Post quotes from Knicksfans on Penny Hardaway!

Penny actually looked good to me in the 4th the other night. Once he got going he lashed and scored and passed like a star. He's underrated at this point and will suprise many people. He d has always been acceptable, if not fantastic.

This is my favorite so far!

Can Penny guard 3's?

Hes 6 ft 8, I think so. At this point in his career, it may actually be his best position.

When the Knicks play the Suns, I'd love to see Penny try to guard the Matrix. Or RJ, or Carmelo, or Corey Maggette, or KG (when he plays on the perimiter).

Hardaway's interview was exciting too. He wants to prove that he is the same old Penny and bring back that old Knicks D.

-------------

I think Penny will show the critics wrong. Even a couple of weeks ago, I was proposing trades to get him. Hes expensive, but if he can get back to Magic Penny, then the guy is as valuable as Stephon.

-------------

maybe he can become that old Penny again

-------------

He'll definitely be a valuable sixth man on this team, and he said it himself (you can hear it on MSGNetwork.com by the way ) that he has several chips on his shoulder and he wants to prove that he's the player he used to be.

-------------

Like ive said before, I believe/hope Penny will be the steal of this past trade!!!

Hes so quick and still is the floor general. Knicks need to start him at SF. That allows Steph to run off screens and score.
------------

Duh, Penny's recovered from his knee injuries and is playing like his old All-Star form.

The sad part for the Suns is that everybody including Penny can guard Marion!

Not if the Suns put in motion like he should be. Marion does not have the super quick first step of Stephon, but he can simply jump over guys when taking short jumpers or runners. I'd love to see Penny trying to stop him on an alley oop.

Shawn had a very poor November, but he is generally putting up good numbers now. His career shooting average is 46.2% and (35.1% for threes) and a very nice 84.1% for free throws (88.5% this year). This year his shooting is up to 43.3% and he is scoring 18.4 ppg.

The biggest problem with his game this year is his three point shooting which dropped from 38.7% in 02-03 to a dismal 29.4% (is was even worse a month ago). On non-3 point shots he is hitting 46.5%.

I think that Marion's numbers will improve over the rest of the season as the offense is adjusted to take advantage of his skills. The discussion about whether there was friction between Stephon v Shawn and Amare could have some substance.

The issue as to whether Shawn can defend really tall opponents is legitimate. I can see Zarko getting those assignments when Shawn struggles.

What's sad is that you don't win baskeball games on alley oops!:(

And please get your fact straight, Marion doesn't jump OVER others when taking short jumpers or runners. That's KG. Marion only jumps and releases quick when contested, which makes his shots low percentage ones.

He does a nice job on those very short jumpers, just not often enough. Realisticaly, he needs to push harder to get the basket and accept the fouls. He is a very good foul shooter, but shys away from contact more lately than in past years.

I'm not saying I think Shawn is perfect. There are lots of things I want him to work on: better ball handling, better passing, better shot selection, moving more without the ball, and being willing to accept contact when going to the basket. But he is still a fairly young player and I think he will continue to improve.

I remember how the young James Worthy was not a very good outside shooter, but later on he was deadly.

They really want the guy who played 10 years ago. He's gone.

Shawn Marion, Joe Johnson, in this season Amare Stoudemire all tend to shy away from contact. In Amare's case I'm not so sure it is that he is afraid of the contact. I actually think he is just trying to make every shot, so he moves around the contact. I guess the same could be said for JJ as well. They just need to learn to draw the contact and then try to finish the shot. It's only been a couple of games, but it looks like Barbosa does the same thing. In fact the only guy that is really good at drawing contact is Casey Jacobsen, but that's because he is plowing over defenders.
