Doubt it. Rosen has some tools, he is FAR from Goff right now...very far.

I didn’t say “right now.” I said Rosen will have a better “career.”
And, I disagree that Josh is “FAR” from Goff right now. The Cards are “FAR” from the Rams right now, but the gap between Goff and Rosen, isn’t nearly as wide as you seem to think it is...

One helluva prediction based on hope and dreams. I will do a wait and see on Rosen.

I keep in mind Steve Wilkes and his staff isn't close to Jeff Fisher status and Rosen is stuck with this model.

Wilkes might be an issue... time will tell. I simply believe Rosen will prove to be the better QB when it’s all said & done... We’ll check this thread 5 years from now and when we do, I’m confident my bold prediction will have been proven true. [emoji6]

Just keep in mind that Goff only had to endure one year of inept coaching and was then given the best, young offensive mind in football.

Right now it looks like Rosen will have to endure two years, and there is no guarantee what will come after that.

Right now, total darksider mindset tells me that Rosen will leave as a FA after two years of the franchise tag.

This is figured by using Goff's averages over 9 games, if spread over 16 games:
Yards: 5,006 yards passing
TD's: 36
Ints: 11
QB Rating: 112.9

Should be fairly accurate because the loss ensured the Rams would have to use starters to get the #1 seed, throughout the regular season. If Rosen does better than that in a season in his career, then God Bless him.

Is Mcvay still in his ear telling him where to throw after looking at the defense?

Again... not about comparing individual seasons... We'll see if Goff actually reaches the figures you tossed out there. But even if he does, it's a season. I'm talking about a career... Time will tell...

Well, I didn't toss out anything. Those are averages over 9 games, extended over 16 games. For Rosen to approach the numbers Goff is gaining, you need a complete team around him. You need a coaching staff who is good at developing offensive skill positions, especially at QB. Rosen can be good, maybe really good...but he'll need help to get there...At this point, getting the right coaches is more important than the draft...

FWIW - Goff was absolutely miserable in his rookie year.

Rosen has the talent level to be just as good but obviously needs some pieces around him.

I think it's near impossible to make this argument because Rosen's career is too dependent on the organization being able to put pieces around Rosen the way the Rams have Goff.

In a weird way, the Rams may actually help or influence how the Cardinals proceed. Being right there in the same division and having to face them twice per year may actually lead to them emulating them. Between SF and LA, the Cardinals may be "forced" to get with the program. I guess they might choose to emulate Seattle but my guess is that with Rosen they'd try and go more offense and passing game than defense and running game like the Seahawks.

Bidwill MUST have learned from the McCoy fiasco and won't make that mistake again next year, right?

Hey man... all Hairy-Ass predictions are always a stretch and highly dependent upon myriad factors! I took my shot. Based upon what I see and my own intuition, I put it out there...
Claiming that there are 24 hours in a day isn't worth the time typing that out. So go for it! Call your shot!

I know for a fact that the "want to" is there. From ownership, to the GM and down to the coaches and players - there is no questioning their desire to be the first team in Cards history to win a championship.
As is always the case, it will boil down to execution with important doses of luck/good fortune. The team has some serious cap space to play with over the next few years. I'm always hesitant about big Free Agent signings in the NFL (Bradford... ahem!)... But, I like Keim & Co's chances of using that money in ways that propel the team forward.

Not disparaging Goff because he's clearly good but look at their current supporting casts. I won't even mention the coaching.

The regression of our WR core and defensive front 7 are the two biggest on-field reasons Keim should be kicked to the Coach House after the season.

I guess the argument comes down to whether or not the Cardinals should have bothered signing a "starting" QB this offseason. Had the team known or anticipated it being this bad, I assume they wouldn't have bothered. But the apparently thought they had a reason to play and wanted to go with someone with a track record and whether it was Bradford or Taylor or Fitzpatrick, they paid the going rate.

My point being, I don't think they overspent or misspent that money. If the timing was reversed I would think exactly that. If they'd signed Glennon, drafted Rosent and THEN went out and signed Bradford I think there would be a lot of reason for criticism. But Bradford and Glennon were plan A and the money spent was appropriate.

As far as signing other FA's next year, they should have all the money they need to do so. I'm not too concerned about what's in their budget but who they get to coach those new guys. I don't have a good suggestion at this point but it's clear that coaching makes such a huge difference it today's NFL that they have to get that one right.

Wonder what would've happened with Bradford had Leftwich been the OC from the start...

very few Coaches don't do this...Even if you lessen your opinion of Goff because of this, he still has to read the defense after the headphones are shut off. He still has to avoid the pass rush by stepping in to the pocket....then he has throw a strike to his first, second, or third option. If it's all McVay, why not just get a scrub in the 6th round and roll with him?

I don't know what to think about Bradford. Zimmer said he had a degenerative knee and that played a big part in the Vikings not re-signing him. The Cardinals must have found he was healthy enough to sign but now they're saying he wasn't able to practice for the last 5 weeks. But they also said it was just a business decision to deactivate him.

So, did they deactivate him because of his incentive laced contract or because he couldn't practice and is unhealthy to the point of...? Was that the reason for his play being less than it's been in the past or was it the Mike McCoy offense?

It's starting to really look like he physically can't be on the field IMO. It's hard to understand a body that is beyond current science but the same type of thing happened to Marshall Faulk when his knees became bone on bone.

It's understandable with Bradford's contract that he cleared waivers but if no one picks him up soon, I think it's fair to assume his knee is totally shot. Which will be an indictment on the Cardinals IMO because I don't think his knee went from healthy to bone-on-bone and can't play since he became a Cardinal.

I think the Cards should emulate the Rams. Hire a young, dynamic offensive minded coach like McVay to bring out the best in the young dynamic quarterback Rosen. They can do that by replacing the lackluster, uninspiring coach Wilks like the Rams did getting rid of Fisher. John Defillipo could be a good candidate, although he apparently didn't knock the Cards socks off the first time he interviewed.

In a van...down by the river.
Goff QB rating first 7 games 63.6
Rosen QB rating first 6 games 69.9

Both offenses as a whole, scheme, personnel, coaching (2016 Rams and 2018 Cards) were and are respectively, a complete trainwreck.

There's a lot that has to change for Rosen to get where Goff is today. Both in terms of support and his play on the field.
