I read a lot of post about how we sent the Cavs future pick to SA. This is not the case! We got him for allot less..... It is a protected next year at 25th or lower and five years after that protected at 21. Thin in the seventh year the Spurs get the pick.   This is a great chance to get a good player for very very cheap.

GO SUNS

sounds like the spurs were deperate to get rid of him.

I am sure the Suns made the deal before they picked and SA made the pick for them. Becouse why would SA pick a guy they want then give him for next to nothing. IMO PHX wanted him and go him all a long.

Well with them having Parker, Claxton & possibly Kidd through free agency, they really had no need for another PG.

Claxton is a Free agent and if they don't land Kidd they may need another PG.

I was under the impression though that the war room erupted when Barbosa was picked, as if the Suns were unsure just who the Spurs were going to choose. Could be wrong, but during the chat, that was how it was described.

No they went nuts when Barbosa was still available.

They had a deal set up with San Antonio if Barbosa fell to them. And they had another one set up with Dallas if San Antonio didn't agree.

There's no way that the Suns would make a trade for an unknown player, then let the Spurs pick who the player is. Maybe the war room erupted just because it was official.

The other possibility is that the Spurs said, "We can't figure out whether there's a player that we want, so we might keep the pick. But if we don't find anyone, we'll take Barbosa and send him to you."

I still can not believe the Suns got both, Barby and Zarko.

I still kind of wish they took the baby Shaq.

My guess is that they had different deals ready for each team from say #25 on, and the Spurs bit when they didn't see anyone they liked better than the Suns offer. Don't forget they wanted to play the FA game big time this summer, so the decision was probably easy for them too.

BTW, Barby's face looks so like Avery Johnson!
