Yes, I haven’t missed a play, regular season/preseason/postseason, since I was in college (2011). When AP is your second leading wr(in catches) it means your qb isn’t putting you in a position to win. If you push then ball downfield they won’t stack the box, which sets up the run game and play action off of that. You can’t just run or check down if the first read isn’t open because you’re scared to get hit.
Lets see:
he gets 3 completions of 25 or more yards ... "more than the Jaguars have allowed in any game this season"
he throws for 2 TDs... "he joined Phillip Rivers as the only other QB to throw multiple TDs against them"
he avoids numerous sacks (which with any other QB on our roster would have been SACKS and most of the points this team got could not have happened
This against the #1 rated D in the league (I know, I know, they are just so overrated, even though he is the only QB to achieve point 1 and ties with that bum Phillip Rivers as the only other QB to achieve point 2).
oh, and most of the passes to AP were not 'checkdowns' they were designed pass plays (designed for David Johnson) and AP was just doing his best DJ impersonation.
And last time I looked, they went down field several times, against the # 1 D ...
