Sweet.
Now get it done LONG TERM, Graves!
We just signed him to a one year agreement. Why would the FO try to extend it now? Watson needs to prove himself first and show that he can stay healthy.
So with the uncapped year next year is he a RFA next year? Exclusive Rights FA?

He needs to be locked up now..... We all know he will be huge if healthy. Long term planning would be a big improvement over some of our previous dealings.
One year contract doesnt matter. We had to give it to him or risk him becoming a unrestricted free agent March 1st. It was only a way to keep his rights.
He's had one injury and a freak one at that. On the field he's already proven himself as a player. We just signed him to a one year agreement. Why would the FO try to extend it now? Watson needs to prove himself first and show that he can stay healthy.
I CAN NOT believe no team went after him. He's been INCREDIBLE!
I believe no team was allowed to go after him until he signed his tender. Correct me if I'm wrong. Now his agent can shop him.
What Chris said. I believe that we would have received a second rounder if we hadn't matched another teams offer.Once he signs his tender he is under contract with Arizona and cannot be pursued. Teams can negotiate with a RFA just like normal free agents. If they are not tendered, they effectively become UFA. If they are tendered, the current team recieves draft compensation. Usually RFAs take a few weeks of free agency to see if another team has any interest in them. When they decide interest is nil or weak, they usually sign thier tender and are under contract for the coming year.
