From the Suns forum at RealGM:
First of all, none of this has been substantiated, but I have heard enough to have me step away from the NBA until we know more. I used to write for AP and I just heard from an old coworker the following:
1. Donaghy did not have a choice on which games to fix. From how he understands this, the mob would call him and tell him to fix game X. Usually it was to have a team cover or the over/under. So, the thinking is it could have been any game at any time (even a playoff).
2. This is more speculation, but there should be reports coming out in the next few weeks that up to 3 more refs, atleast 1-2 people that review officials and even a player might have been involved.
3. Stern had atleast 2 (and possibly 3) meetings over the past 3 years with Donaghy involving gambling and knew of some of his issues (but still had him ref).
The more that comes out, the more this stinks. I will be hoping beyond all hope that this is all crap and it was only Donaghy and he didn't impact any postseason games. But, I don't think I want to invest my time and energy in a league that potentially has corruption this deep until it all pans out.
