Escobar with a 3-run HR (his 30th of the season) and the
D-backs lead 10-4.

Eight of our last nine hitters, except Lamb, have hits.

Even our bullpen can hold this lead for the next 3 innings.

If AZ Native threw some salt over his shoulder. :)
I certainly did.

I'm sure the Dodgers are not nearly as mentally into this series as we are... but, MAN is it fun to see our guys beat up on the Doyers!!!

Ryu has fallen off, and has pitched more innings than he has in 6 seasons. That is a worry.

Their bullpen as of late has been worse than ours. For a WS hopeful team, that is a huge concern.

And with no August 31 waiver wire trades, they are stuck.

Well... all true of course. However, if you're gonna be "stuck," they have one helluva team to be "stuck" with!
They have had the division sewed up for some time now. Should they falter in the post season, it will mainly be because Dave Roberts simply can't get this team across the ultimate goal line.

I for one am thrilled that Dave Roberts "manages" the Doyers. :D

Interesting conversation in the booth about the D-backs declining fielding.

Bob Brenly said that you expect hitting slumps and you expect pitching
slumps. But there should never be fielding slumps.

Steve said that Torey Lovullo believes that there will be fielding slumps.

I'll go with the D-backs World Series Champion manager, not with the
D-backs .500 manager.

It's that kind of placid leadership that I do not appreciate from Torey.

The Dodgers are battling for home-field advantage in the World Series If they are not trying to win every game and stay up with Houston in New York then that’s poor managing

Flores, with another hit, doubles in a run with
one out in the 8th. Arizona-11, Los Angeles-4.

And another thing - Bellinger swings out of his shoes on every pitch. I guarantee that 5 years from now, if he's still in the league and when he's just 29, that swing will look a lot different. Ain't no way a man can swing like that over time. No sir!

And that's a wrap. D-backs take the opener of the
4-game series 11-5.

Friday's game is at 6:30. Saturday's is at 5:00.
And Sunday's is at1:00.

And... this game takes them to 2 games over .500. Which pushes their MLB record of being with two games of either side of 500 to 60 straight days. Which of course spells huge trouble for the rest of this series!

Me too. Especially since both teams had the same level of talent. :sarcasm:
Sarcasm or not, what does that have to do with Brenly
stating that he expects good fielding every game?
But Lovullo expects fielding slumps. Is that positive
leadership?

AZ Native said:
BC, don't say anything Turner's HR.
Just doing some scoring play-by-play highlights for
ASFN participants who are not watching the game.

One of them said 'thanks' in a post a few games ago.

Man, AZ, you're digging deep. Chill, man! I want to see
the D-backs stop losing one game for every game they
win, as I'm sure you do, too. And as 82CardsGrad posted.

OK, here was my thought process on the first one. You stated you would go with the manager of a World Series Championship team over a .500 manager. You made it sounded like BB was smarter just because he won more. My point was he won more because he had a far superior team. That does not make every opinion of his right. BTW, I like BB.

As far as the second comment you completely missed what I was saying. Earlier you made a comment that we had the lead but our bullpen has to hold them 4 innings. I said thanks for that comment and you told me to throw salt over my shoulder and I did. (you liked my comment) All comments were made in jest. It was light hearted bantering. Later I was joking and asking you not to comment after Turner's HR in the ninth implying you might jinx them. It was a continuation of the jinx comment. I was not telling you not to ever comment, just asking you not to jinx it. There was no dig at you at all and I am Chill. I thought you would catch what I was saying and laugh about it. I guess sometimes our posts aren't always interpreted like we mean them. Yes, we all want them to win but sometimes I like to have a little fun doing it.

OK. I understand your comments. I actually made the World Series Champion reference tongue in cheek, rather than just refer to BB's point of view (not accepting fielding slumps) over Torey's, regardless of the rosters they had. I, too, was having a little fun doing it.
Here's to fun!

Escobar getting love for 30 HR / 20 2B / 10 3B season. One of like 6 guys in history have had that season, last one was Mantle I believe. Dude was a GREAT value signing.

I loved this quote about the DBacks from Hyun-Jin Ryu in the LA Times this morning:
They seemed to be thinking more about contact rather than something big,” Ryu said through interpreter Bryan Lee. “Along the process, they were able to get some soft hits as well as some of the hard-hit balls, which made it difficult for me.

Basics of hitting right? Don’t chase pitches out of zone and put ball into play by capitalizing on pitchers mistakes and what they give you. No need for all or nothing approach.
