Steve Berthiaume mentioned yesterday, that today would be a bull pen game for the San Diego Padres. I hope we jump all over them in this game.

Kelly, with an ERA just under '5' needs all the help on
offense he can get.

It will probably be another bullpen day for us, as well.

Of course, with the expanded roster, it shouldn't be
as troublesome as the rest of the season.

Marte, leading off and two triples away from double digits, hits a
classic triple -- down the right field line.

And scores of Rojas' base hit.

Who is this guy on the mound for us?
9 strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. Wow!

Despite my questioning some of Torey's moves, he has the team on a winning streak.

I give him credit for that. We're peaking at just the right time. Go D-backs.

The Padres are not a good team. Remember after Machado signed, many of the experts were saying the Padres were going to contend for a playoff spot? Machado and Harper are nowhere worth over 300 million.

Who are you and does BC know you hacked into his account? :) BTW, Some = 99%.

We're keeping the Padres in the game... and, as usual, we're letting a pitcher who should've been out of the game long ago, stick around and keep the game within reach.
I don't like the way this feels...

10 & 4 in their last 14 games... To have this team catching fire at this stage of the season, when so many guys have never played in such pressure-packed games at this point in a MLB season, is truly remarkable.
You got guys like our pitcher tonight (Merrill Kelly), Young, Taylor Clarke, Crichton, Duplantier, Gallen, Ginkel, Lopez, Robby Scott, Carson Kelly, Josh Rojas, Ildemaro Vargas, Christian Walker, Almonte and Locastro - all of whom have never played in such important baseball games in September!
And to get this group to hit this level of success right now is, again, truly remarkable!

LOL! I guess Torey read my posts.

99% might be an exaggeration. If that close to perfection were true, we'd have the final Wild Spot secured by now. So close!

The math does not favor us. But I give Torey credit for getting more out of this team than we all predicted.

Meanwhile, the score stayed at 2-0 since the 1st inning. Kelly pitched
a 3-hit shutout for 7 innings.

And the relievers put and leave two on base in the top of the 8th.

Except for the fielding lapses, the D-backs are definitely showing
more confidence than for most of the season.

It is fun to see!

Archie is walking the tight rope again. A run in and runners on 1st & 3rd (the tying
and go-ahead run) in the 9th with 2 outs. He does have a flair for the dramatic.

Archie with a 1-2 count on Martini. And a strikeout. The D-backs hold on for the 2-1 win.

The ump felt bad for Archie on that last pitch and gave him that strike. Phew.
