I guess Jake did close his eyes. He doubles in three
and the D-backs lead 7-5 . They almost had Jake caught
between 2nd & 3rd, but threw it away. Jake is on 3rd.

Line out and we go to the 8th.

Crichton in to pitch.

Runners on 1B & 2B for Miami and a single. Dyson, now playing CF
with a great throw to get the runner out at the plate. Still 7-5.

Marte came in from CF to play 2B, but had to move to SS when
Ahmed tried to catch a grounder with a finger from his throwing
hand in the mitt. It drew blood. 'Hope he didn't crack a nail.

Vargas, now playing 2B, leads off the bottom of the 8th with a single.

Then a walk. Almonte, who game into the game in RF and singled, is
now due up. But a pitching change.

Even if Lamb "gets hot", every GM knows that he would be a horrible investment.

Every season has ended in disappointment, either by slumping or being hurt.

I don't know what you mean by my own observation. I have been campaigning
for the Minor League's top power hitter, Cron, to be given a chance at 1B.

Do you baby a loser? Or give a chance to a winner? My choice is clear!

There has to be more to Torey burying Cron than what we see. Will we ever
find out?

Your observation has been that Lovullo has his favorites and Lamb ranks higher than Cron. As for a GM trading for Lamb...all you need is one guy who thinks he can resurrect Lamb to get return. If all it takes is letting Lamb get some starts in junk time I am ok with trying.

I don't like the idea of calling Lamb a loser as you seem to be suggesting. By all accounts he is a good teammate and an even better person.

Cron will get his chance...maybe here, maybe not.

It's not personal. I was referring to Lamb's disappointing half-seasons every year.

I said nothing about what kind of a person he is. Why do some posters try to
make everything personal?

As far as Cron, too many maybe's. And, as I've posted, I feel for him . . .

But it is about a manager depriving the team of a slugger, by not giving him a
fair chance anytime during the season.

Yes, Lovullo playing favorites (as you posted), even to the detriment of the team.

I made nothing personal...you called Jake Lamb, an MLB level player, good teammate and better person a loser. You want to say his play is frustrating? You want to say he is injury prone? You want to be angry that he is taking away PT from whomever? Fine, but a loser is certainly not a term I would apply to Jake Lamb.

You're right. I broke my own rule. I should have said that Jake's performances in
the second half of seasons have been extremely disappointing, year after year.

This year, Jake missed the first half, so all he has is his 2nd half performance,
which approaches the Mendoza line.

Especially with the Minor League's top power hitter wasting on the bench,
waiting for a chance to help the weak hitting D-backs.

BTW, Cron, as Lamb, has played both 1B & 3B. He couldn't be any worse a
fielder than Lamb at either position. Or any worse a fielder at 1B than Walker.

The D-backs have had a severe problem driving in runs. This season in Reno,
Cron has 105 RBI's in only 305 official at-bats, while being shuffled back and
forth. He is an RBI machine! At the age of 26, he is not getting any younger.

What manager in his right mind wouldn't give this 6'5"-250 lb. slugger an
opportunity to help the team? It is like giving Torey a key to a deposit box
containing $100,000 and he throws away the key.
