- Ted Larsen just made it abundantly clear to Arians that he wants to start at LG Week 1. Very solid performance against Geno Atkins (although it was Atkins's first game back from injury). Got good leverage and shut down his assignment. Cooper should not feel comfortable on the trainer's table tomorrow

- Palmer looked out of sync, but wasn't helped out by numerous drops by Brown Floyd, Housler, etc. Pick-6 was a miscommunication on the route. Palmer thought slant, Fitz thought "go."

- Stanton has looked very comfortable all preseason. Arguably the most consistent player in the last three games.

- This was Deone's coming out party. Dude was all over the field making tackles.

- Hope Feely has tee times set up on Sundays during the season

- Run defense should be fine moving forward. Team is at its best when everyone is swarming to the ball carrier and getting push up front. Bengals o-line is no joke, either

- Fitz was Fitz. Still has a tremendous catch radius

- John Brown is awesome, but needs to relax a bit. Seems stiff in the beginning of games, but figures it out as the game goes on.

- Teddy Williams doesn't make this team. Stood out too much in a negative way

- Andy Dalton is a soulless ginger

Stanton is nice as a number 2. Ellington is just saving the jets, like it seems some were tonight as far as starters go. Palmer thinks Floyd is faster than he is. :D Concur on Larsen big time. Fells wants the starting role and Housler isn't getting many looks, I don't know if this is by design or if Housler is a shoe in for the #1. Cro got burned in game speed on a sideline play, unacceptable. Peterson struggles on some plays but comes off his man as soon as the pass goes somewhere else. Foote still has wheels. Veldeer has a brain, took the penalty instead of letting Palmer get creamed, they must really be buddies and that's a good thing. CC was a no show compared to Frostee. Jefferson up, Powers down. Both Browns are down for theirs. We aren't deep at runningback or linebacker.

Who is Teddy Williams? Also, we still can't bring meaningful pressure on the QB. I was hoping for more from Acho and Okafor...
And our run game is quite inept at this point...
Fells looked promising, his ugly drop of a perfect pass notwithstanding...
John Brown is gonna be fun to watch this season! And yes, Larsen locked up LG in week 1.

The thing that was nice about Buchanon was he showed his head was in the game as he got his body in position numerous times. This is what I want to see most from a rookie safety. He didn't look lost. He was right there. Johnson and Jefferson played well too. We have a very solid secondary.

LB's still looked a bit slow, but Foote and Demens were still physical and adequate.

DL looked great stopping the run and disrupting a few pass plays. Our DL is not an issue. Our depth is serving us well sans Dockett. Didn't seem to miss a beat. Hopefully this continues.

Just remember folks the 1st team defense gave up 9 points the entire preseason. Defense without Washington, Dansby, and now Docket (and Minter)...and HB....has still played extremely well. Once we put the pieces together and start utilizing some of our 'backups' and injured players at their best skills in niche roles, this defense still could be very scary.

Darren Fells continues to be our big body TE who can run over people and knock the snot out the defense. TN looked like a rookie who just got his cast off this week, and it's hard to fault a guy like that on a quick... bang bang play on a blitz.

Logan Thomas was put in a horrible position, but still did some good. Kept his eyes downfield and ran as a last resort, while still keeping his eyes downfield. On that throw to TN on an all out blitz, he made a quick hot read, that seemed like the correct one. Can't wait to see him in the 4th game. It would make sense to give him a whole half.

Still need to see Catanzaro kick a long field goal, but otherwise he's impressed in his opportunities. Tedd Ginn Jr. Flashed as a returner a bit.

Bishop didn't do much, and he might have shifted out of the hole at the last second which helped allow a big run (not sure if it was him). Would like to see him used as we used DWash and Los. It also almost seemed like he was directing the defense when the play started and thus lost some reaction time on a few plays.

Peterson held his own against A.J. Green, who he said he felt was the 3rd best receiver in the NFL. Even lockdown corners are going to give up some short comeback stuff.

Larsen played well. The starting line played great. If this continues in regular season, Carson will have plenty of time to throw.

Still plenty to like about this game, and especially that we didn't get anyone injured (at least nothing that was apparent). Bengals were dropping like flies.

Agree, 88.

While Feely is all but gone, I'm still feeling unsettled about the fact that CatMan hasn't kicked anything longer than 33 yards in a game situation. Last night was another series of chip shots.

If it is the same big run I saw, that was Rucker getting blown out by a double team and Demens getting blind sided. That hole was HUGE!

39 passes to 16 runs is the formula to get your az tore up in the NFCW- it is only preseason! Exactly!

1-No pass rush, still. This will be an issue throughout the season. We do not have one edge player who can win with speed, and only one who can seperate, disengage, and close on the QB in Campbell.

2-Michael Floyd needed to be at practice and it showed. So in synch early with Palmer, and last night showed whsy happens when plater's aren't at practice.

3-Running game looked ok.

4-I wonder if the Cards are hiding their use of Carlson in the passing game. Everyone talks about what a huge addition he was, and has been invisable so far. However, TE usage increases when with Fells and Nikklas.

5-Demens is a nice player, but he can't run with 75% of the TEs in this league.

6-I'm not sure Deone had a breakout game, but things seem to be slowing down. He is now getting to plays in time to make a play on them. It isn't there yet by any means, but he is a player who has shown a nice progression through the pre season.

7-Tony Jefferson can fill a run lane.

8-We have some legit depth along the offensive line even if our starters aren't great across the board. Larsen and Fanaika aren't great players, but the fact that Cooper and Watford are right there as well is a nice problem to have. Cooper has been disappointing, but at least we have legit options behind him.

9-Powers played well, which is nice to see.

Bucannon seems like an AW type safety. The BIG question is whether he can cover TE's. No doubt that he can tackle, and is willing to stick his nose in.

Defense looked solid against a decent offense, especially the run defense.

Larry Fitzgerald is still by far the best player on the offense.

Carson Palmer is what he is. A decent quarterback who makes his share of mistakes. Last night he looked like a marginal starter, but his receivers (Floyd, Housler, and John Brown early on) didn't give him any help.

As Chopper mentioned, the pass rush is non-existent without the scheming of Todd Bowles. Without Washington and Dansby, it is likely to be worse than last year. The secondary isn't good enough to hold up without better pressure than that showed last night.

Big question mark about John Brown. He looked great the second team Bengal defense, not so much against their starters.

I don't think Bucannon will ever be a great coverage S, but he has the athleticism to develop into a decent one. He does have above average size which will give him more room for error in coverage because QBs will have to throw over him.

Keim was on KTAR this morning. Said that Carson's overthrow of Floyd was Floyd's fault. He was supposed to run a go pattern, but did a stop and go instead. He said the problems with the passing game were almost all problems with the receivers. He was encouraged because he felt these were easily correctible.
