The Archie meltdown is the kind of game that gives a team a bad hangover. Back to .500 or worse for the Dbacks.

Godley comes in relief and walks first batter, then settles down and gets next three outs

I imagine TL would like him to finish the game

An Archie meltdown started our slide out of contention last year as well. The long flight across the country immediately following yesterday I'm sure didn't help. Today's result was almost expected. Let's see if/how they bounce back tomorrow.

I think I'll stop posting now . . . . . . until the D-backs patented rally in the final three innings. :(

Or not!

10-0 bottom of the 8th.

And catcher John Ryan Murphy is pitching the 9th.

And follows his predecessors, giving up a 2-run homer.

12-1 final on an unearned run.

Oh well, on to the next two.

It might be time to DFA Godley. The demotion to the bullpen obviously hasn't righted the ship.

Wasn't that his first outing out of the pen? Maybe give him a few chances in low leverage spots before tossing him in the wood chipper?

I think he is toast but let's make sure.

Today was about as low leverage as it gets, and he still couldn't hold it together.

I get that but it is different coming out of the bullpen than starting. Maybe give him a chance to clear the mind and get a few more appearances before ending it?

Again, I think he is toast but I want to see if anything can be salvaged with this bullpen stint

Not ruling out Bradley’s clunker from yesterday causing this team to spiral into a major skid

Unless he overcomes his fear of throwing to the bases (except underhanded), he will be a detriment.

And his falling off the mound and not be able to field his position is a negative.

History has shown that he is not Major League calibre. It is the pinnacle. Not every ball player qualifies.

His body language is awkward. Godley is a has-been. I'd rather see his new spot given to an up-and-coming reliever.

Anyone can pitch garbage time. Even position players. :)

The Rays are an incredible franchise locked away in a dump.
Bob Brenly said that the Giants and White Sox were, each on their own occasion, preparing to move to Tampa/St. Pete.

The players were receiving literature about houses, schools, etc. But the League stepped in and disallowed either move.

It took a millionaire and an expansion team to do it. Even though it seemed clear that the West Coast of Florida was a
limited market.

I was living in the Bay Area when there was talk of the Giants moving there. Candlestick Park had become a disaster, and the commitment to build the new ballpark downtown was ultimately what kept the team from moving.

Funny you brought up the White Sox. Whenever I go to a different city I always ask the locals to rank the teams in their city based on significance. Of course the Bears and Cubs were 1-2 followed by the Blackhawks then the Bulls/Notre Dame in some order. Nobody even mentioned the White Sox. In fact Northwestern Football got more mentions. #randomstory
