Lopez might be one of those types (a la Brad Ziegler) who pitches better with the bases packed and/or runners in scoring position, rather than starting an inning fresh. (Chafin, for example, is the opposite, as is Hirano.)

Yoshi gives up two runs with one out in the 7th. Score is tied.

Jones' error allows the potential lead runner advance to 3B
and he scores on a sac fly.

Yoshi is not looking good as our set-up man, just as he
finished last season.

And Torey had taken out Walker on a double switch. Flores
moved from 2B to 1B. A Manager who can't leave well
enough alone is going to miss on a lot of guesses.

And leave his bench short when you lose the lead. As we have.

Two bad errors in this inning. Plus Vargas’ from earlier all led to some runs.

Wasn’t defense and pitching supposed to be the cornerstone to the team ?

And now you hopefully see why I said Torey Lovullo wasn't a good manager...

Can't hit, can't field, can't pitch, apparently can't coach?

They can hit, but they can't with a base runner in scoring positions. Pitching has stunk so far and the 2 or 3 errors basically lost this game for them.

Another way Lovullo's tinkering did us no favors. When the back end of the bullpen was successful last year, Hirano pitched the 7th, Archie the 8th and Boxberger the 9th. In fact Hirano has been his most successful pitching the 7th, and Archie his most successful pitching the 8th. Plus, if Hirano was/is off (which we usually could tell pretty quickly, as we could today), we could bring Archie in to mop up, and he has the stamina to pitch the next inning (whereas Hirano does not, were the situation to be reversed).

SO...what in God's name is Lovullo doing and thinking having Archie pitch the 7th and Hirano the 8th???

One explanation. Attention Deficit Disorder. :)

I shouldn't have used a smiley face. Maybe it's not a joke. It seems like every day is a new beginning.

Second basemen playing third base and first base, with both power hitters out. On Sunday, both Lamb and Walker were taken out in double switches at first base in a close game.

The Press asks him if he's considering playing Lamb and Walker together, so the next day he double-switches both of them out of the lineup. It makes no sense.
