I hope that Duplantier can get fully back into his starting routine and show us what he can do at the Major League level.

I fear the bullpen foray has set him back a but on his starters journey.

Alex Avila...consistently striking out.
I know you are on his case, but consider (as I've responded before) that Alex is batting ahead of the
pitcher and gets absolutely nothing to hit.

If the rest of the D-backs lineup were hitting, perhaps Alex would be content to take every pitch
outside the zone. But with the D-backs struggling, he has power and is being aggressive. And I
don't blame him.

One of the singles hitters should be batting 8th, ahead of the pitcher, not Avila and his pull
hitting power.

Please respond to these specific points about Avila and why he has had to expand his strike zone
to try to help the team.

I am at work so I am not sure but did he even swing at a single pitch during that at bat? The TV is a bit of a distance from me. Near as I can tell he didn't

As for your points, I have already stated my opinion and it does not align with yours. I would rather he not be concerned with where he is hitting and act like a normal hitter. Get on base and take the chance with pitcher batting next.

I 100% get what you are saying and fully agree it is one potential way to look at it and you are not alone in your assessment.

Carson Kelly is clearly the Catcher of the future, but catchers more than any other field positions need days off. Avila is better than most #2 catchers.

Thanks, AZCB. And I understand your reacting to Alex's strikeouts.

As far as the game, the Dodgers had jumped out to a 2-0 lead. And Peralta has doubled in a run in the 4th to cut the lead in half.

This new era of baseball tests me. I DESPISE strikeouts.

If he is not getting anything to hit, the. Why is he not taking the walks?

Frame it how you want. The guy does not belong in a mlb team. He was batting in the. 100s last year. There where pitchers with better batting averages than him. He's in the low 200s this year and it's declining fast with the strike outs.

Duplantier had to leave after 5 for a pinch hitter who,
unfortunately, did not deliver.

Except for the 2-run shot, Jon is coming along nicely.

Surely, Torey will let him continue to develop as a
starter, no matter who else becomes available.

Agree. It was just a mistake and MLB hitters punish mistake pitches. Very nice outing.

There is a day off, so that probably influenced decision to rely on the bullpen for the rest of the game

Jon is a STARTER. Never want to see him as a reliever again

Locastro gets hit by pitch (AGAIN) and then scores on a Dyson double!

All tied up going into the ninth, all set up for Dback's hopes to be dashed

'Had to pick up my car from the shop for servicing. And what a happy surprise!

Dyson, the Spark Plug, drives in the tying run in the 8th. Now, extra innings.
