I said, with a smiley, earlier in the thread, that humidity could be contributing to
the amount of home runs this game, part of which was in heavy rain.

BB just mentioned a professor who wrote that higher humidity does cause balls
to go farther. I shouldn't have put in the smiley. Oh, BTW, :) .

Clarke is out for Godley. I agree with the poster who expressed doubts
about Clarke's ability to stay in the rotation. In a way different than
Godley's, Clarke's body language looks weak. And not because of the
deformation on his lips/cheek.

So far, the seven runs for the D-backs have been scored by the first
seven hitters, Dyson through Avila. That is good to see!

Well Godley, this is your chance to prove you belong back in the rotation

Escobar with his second HR, into the upper deck. 9-4.

Switch hit HR's.

I don't think that Godley's doing a better job in long relief necessarily means he would succeed back in the rotation.

And Vargas with a HR. 7th of the game is a new D-backs record.

And Vargas now joins every position player with at least a run scored in the game.

11-4 after 6. Godley has been solid in relief. 2 2/3 inning, one infield hit, one walk.

Everybody with a hit but Walker. Everybody with a run scored.
Everybody with a HR but Walker and Jones.
Everybody with an RBI but Walker and Jones.

Please, D-backs, don't get beaten 2-1 in the next two games.

Godly has allowed the last two Batters to get on with a single and a walk

This team is weird. It can’t decide whether it’s really good or really awful.

Well, when Torey goes with his best lineup, they're good.

When he gives his mandatory pre-determined days off, not so good.

Imagine if Cron, with his power, had been at 1B tonight instead of Walker.
But it has been pre-determined that Walker is the 1st baseman for the
rest of the season. Period! Unless, of course, it's Lamb.

And Vargas hits his 2nd HR for a total of 8.

D-backs 13-6 in the top of the 9th.

And Cron comes up as a PH to give it a try, but they walk him.
The Phillies know whom to pitch around.

Phillies with their 4th & 5th HRs, in the 9th so far. That's what happens when
you give your closer some extra work. 13-8.

It's the 4th time this season that a team has hit 8 HR's in a game.

13th HR in the game between both teams.

As Steve & BB are discussing, MLB has done something to the baseballs.

BB just said, "This just in. Jody Jackson has homered." :)
