Game Blog: Cardinals vs. Steelers 8/13/09

I was wondering if many of you could type in some of the highlights and your impressions tonight. I am on vacation on the Jersey Shore and the house I'm renting does not get ESPN...but i do have the internet. So, I will be reading all your notes. I am taping the game back home, but won't be able to watch it until Sunday.

Remember back in the Dark Ages when "Dave McGinnis" or "Buddy Ryan" would show up for the chat? Some of those were hilarious. Especially when we were getting pounded 44-6 or 31-14 or losing a 16 point lead in the 4th against the otherwise winless 49ers.

That's right Girl! You take the lead! I will be at Valle Luna's watching most of the game with the Big Red Army that shows up. I will probably not post my impressions until I've had a chance to watch the replay.

I strongly believe that winning or losing is not a priority in pre-season, and yet, I am fired up! I want no "I's", I want clear indication of performance from our back-ups, and I want to smash the Steelers for 60 minutes.

Who performs well at kickoff returns? (it would be nice not to see many) How well do our TEs block? Can we play with fewer penalties? Does Rashad Johnson make himself a factor? How do all of the second string O_Linemen play? How do LSH and Jason Wright respond to gametime action? Can Brown or Davis get their first taste of NFL QB sacks? Yep, I'm ready.

I am just happy that our team is a unit with really no controversy. I remember fighting tooth and nail for Warner and arguements happening every where. Well This season is Can We Repeat? I say we have a great chance to get to the NFC championship game. We need our defense to step up..If they play like they did in the playoffs we will be GREAT!!!!

Can't wait for 4 weeks and San Francisco!!!!

Oh also NO........... please NOOOO injuries on either side!

Pass coverage is the key. It was the Cards weakness all year and cost them the SB championship as well as almost costing them the Atlanta and Philly playoff games. We must see better Pass Defense or we're in for a long season.

The special teams and offense put pittsburgh's Offense at about the 10 for their 1st drive in quarter 2...Warner out after 1 qtr and 1 series. Played good. Pitt's second teamers are beating ours..drive for 50yd FG. Steelers, 3-0.Cards with Leinart hitting 5 in a row at one point, drove from their own 8 to Pitt's red zone, to their 7 yd line where they failed on a 4th and1. Good change in field position, though..OK, 42 yd line 38 seconds left.. Leinart inc ..leinart longh to Morey, defensive PI, easy Cards FG Last play of The Half..3-3.
