YEEEAAAAAAH BOY!
I cannot wait, I have tried to just concentrate on other things all week, but I am finally allowed to just enjoy the anxiousness of waiting for this game.
The 1st overall point I want to make about this game is, WOW just WOW, the potential for this football game is through the roof. As a fan, no matter the out come, these are the games that you want your team to play in, and the games you want to experience.
At the end of the year, games are over-analyzed. This game is going to be really simple:
1. The Cardinals have to hold up against the interior of the Carolina defensive line. Yes, Luke Kuechley is a scary, scary, scary player, but he is a secondary worry to the defensive line. Its really simple, if the defensive tackles have a field day, the Cardinals cannot run or pass, or do anything.
2. No risk it, no biscuit. To steal a line from Hunter S. Thompson, "Walk confidently into their midst's." The Cardinals have to come to Carolina, and be aggressive on offense, AND defense. Throw the ball down the field, and take chances. Michael Floyd is the key to the game today. Whether Floyd takes on Norman is the question. If Norman is on Floyd, that is fine, that means Fitzgerald, and ESPECIALLY John Brown are going to have favorable matchups (and while Luke Kuechley is a great linebacker, Fitzgerald is a hall of famer. I have seen Fitzgerald shake Derell Revis out of his jock, thus Kuechley "can" cover Fitzgerald, but that is our advantage, IMO.)
3. David Johnson........THE RECEIVER.
I lament not having the Honey Badger for today's game, he would really tilt things in the Cardinals favor on defense. On offense to a lesser extent, I lament not having Chris Johnson at running back.
Reason? Running between the tackles today will be tough, VERY tough. If the Cardinals get anything from running between the tackles will be because it was not expected for them to even try to, or the Cardinals trick the Panthers with a counter or mis-direction. Chris Johnson has that veteran knack of getting 3 or 4 yards when nothing is there. Chris Johnson running on the inside and keeping David Johnson fresh would really help the Cardinals.
BUT, that being said, David Johnson has had a lot of success in the short passing game. The kid is downright dangerous out of the flat, he has had a couple huge plays from that area. Yes, the Carolina linebackers are fast, but so is David Johnson, and furthermore, David Johnson is a big guy. Thomas Davis is 235lbs, and Kuechely? 238lbs. They are not that big. They are fast, but not faster than Johnson, they are big, but not much bigger than David Johnson.
........btw, do not sleep on the forgotten man, Andre Ellington.
Let's go Cardinals!
