But wasn't that against all the guys on New Jersey that probably won't make the team? :D

so what did we see out of the suns tonight?
-jj is much more active (alot more)
-nick sheppard sounds like he might be an improvement over big jake.
-trybanski can rebound and block shots very well.
-amare's free throw shooting is greatly improved and it looks like his outside shooting in coming along nicely.
-knight looks like he might really help out the team.
-barbosa will be special in time, can you say 6th man if jj starts.
-googs may have something to add this year. wow wouldnt that be something.

what do you guys think. win or lose doesnt really matter at this point as long as we find the best player that will help us out.

I wouldn't be worried. The only vet who played well is Knight and he has something to prove. The rest played with quite a bit of rust.

Your right he was 3-8. Marion was 0-9 and Marbury was 1-7.

We can keep repeating it, the vets have only had a couple days to practice with the young guys. It'll come. I guess the same can be said for the Nets players as well, so I'm not sure why we had so many problems.

Maybe it's all because Bo Outlaw isn't on the team anymore? :D

The Suns minus Amare Stoudemire were 18-65 from the field. Even with him they were just 26-78.

That is very, very ugly. Shawn Marion and Stephon Marbury shot 1-16 tonight.

And Jason Kidd did not even play!

Agreed. The only guys I was disappointed in were Marion, Marbury and Penny, but there is nothing to worry about with any of those guys. Can't wait for the season opener.

-Joe Johnson may have been more active, but his shooting was still piss poor. That's been the biggest problem with JJ.

-Nick Sheppard had a nice game, but it's very premature to say he might be an improvement over big jake.

-Trybanski did well with the 7 minutes he played in trash time. He will probably play more earlier in the game next time.

-Amare Stoudemire played very well. Let's hope he plays this well throughout the regular season.

-both of the backup point guards were encouraging tonight.

-hopefully Tom Gugliotta does have something left in the tank. He played decently tonight, although he did pick up 4 personal fouls in 19 minutes. Of course that was nothing like Archibald's 10 minute foul out. That's Alton Ford like.

I disagree. I think the fact that JJ has not been consistant has been his biggest knock. The main reason he has not been consistant to me has to do with the fact that he is disappears in games. If he stays active I think he'll find his shot to go along with his good D, ability to get boards and get shots for teammates.

I disagree. I think that that shooting is the cause in the disappearing is the effect. I hope he does stay active even if he is shooting poorly, but I was really most like to see him shoot better. The Phoenix Suns need somebody to two well from outside.

joe the thing about nick tonight is he was mobile and active and rebounded. i personally could careless if we get any points out of the centers but the stat line for big jake looked like this to much 12 and 3 rebounds when he got 25 mins. now come on this guy is 7'2" and 280 he is be able to get rebounds better then that. we have a couple very good rebounders in amare and marion and better then average out of the shooting guard spot with jj and hardaway, and average to poor out of the point with marbury but we got kill at center and off the bench with rebounds last year. rebounding is all about effort. if googs, zarko and barbosa can give the suns some rebounding off the bench. and we can get someone who can get out 6 to 7 boards in 25-30 min a game out of the center spot i think we will be well set up. if we are really going to run as a team we need to rebound better then other teams. also some block shots would help a lot.

Joe Johnson had a good game.

Marion and Marbury also have some low shooting games every once in a while but make up with other stats most of the time.

JJ didn't.

Last night he shot only 4-15 but still scored 17 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals in 28 minutes. He went to the line for9 tries.
He was certainly better than Penny's 6 points 3 turnovers 0 assists 0 freethrows 0 rebounds 0 steals 0 blocks.

Nobody shot the ball well so I am not worried about Joe Johnson either. It was their first game.

Although I haven't seen the game Joe Mama's comments are seeming to be correct.Only two remarks:

1. Joe Johnson did show a significant improvement with his shooting especially from beyond the arc at the end of last season.
Unfortunately that improvement completely dissappeared in the play-off.
I think that JJ has the shooting-mechanism, the eyes and hands of really good future shooter but his shot still lacks consistency.
I'm still very optimistic about his future, he may turn out to a bigger version and bit less athletic version of Doug Christie.

2. As Chaplin already pointed out (with some sarcasm I guess) Trybanski got 2 from his 4 blocks against Tamar Slay who probably won't make NJN's team and 1 against Kerner who obviously won't.
All 4 blocks were in garbage time.

Of course a block is a block and if Trybanski would get only some rebounds and 1 block per game then he would cross my expectations about his contribution for the Suns.
