Ha ha. I'm not even starting Shipp this week. I had to go with Selvin Young.

ouch. I was so stacked at RB, that I had to drop Chester Taylor. :) Hopefully I can pick him back up, but I am at the back of the waiver wire. :(

Jeff:

It's more than just 62 yards allowed on the ground per game. It's 2.5 yards per carry (tied with the Bears for #1 in the league), with a long of 15 and 0 rushing TDs. Opposing teams have averaged 25 carries a game against the Ravens without noticeable effect, so I'm a little dubious that we can count on "wear(ing) them down."

Half of which was against a very ineffective Jet's running game. Not only was Thomas Jones unhealthy, but the Jets line that has been pretty shoddy all year.

We will find out if this Ravens run D is all it's cracked up to be.

On Offense, use Pope and BJ, to keep the DB,s honest, on Defense, stop the run, take away Heep, and make the QB beat us.

How we WILL beat the Ravens:

1. Our defense will play their balls off.
a) Stuff McLeghee and give him no more than 60 yards on the ground
b) Don't allow McNair to make plays with his legs..shoddy as they are
c) Allow about 4 total passes complete to Heap, none over 8 yards
d) Force at least two turnovers by their offense

2. Our offense will not crumble and will do the minimum necessary.
a) Matt will not throw more than 2 picks and only thrown picks inside Ravens' territory...don't give them short fields.
b) NO FUMBLES
c) Short routes to JJ, Q, Fitz for small gains but conservatively move the chains into FG range
d) Score at least one TD...we will NEED at least one. We need 16 points at least. If we get 19 with four FG, fine.

3. MOST IMPORTANT. Special Teams needs to be on target this game.
a) Rackers needs to nail at least 3 FGs, maybe more. At least one 50 yarder.
b) Punt coverage needs to be solid! We must win the field position game.
c) Good blocking in the return game...we've sucked here thus far. We need a good 30 yard PR and some 40 yard KRs
d) NO BLOWN COVERAGE!!!!!!!!

Field position is the name of this game. Matt will have hell on him...we will need to give him short fields to work with to set up FGs, and late in the game we will run on them and get the clock ticking down. We can't give our D short fields because Heap and Leghee are threats. If we hold them to 10 or 13 points, we should win. We can score 17-20 points in the game. If we score 20, we should win it.

4. STOP THE STUPID PENALTIES.

That's my strategy to win this game.

Ngata is a man child and is able to take on double teams and still regularly penetrate the pocket. He worries me.

What does that even mean? I've heard it before but seriously what the heck is the meaning behind it? Man child? probably something some ridiculous announcer said about some player somewhere along the line and it stuck I guess.

IMO our defense matches well with the Ravens offense. As far as them being a top defense, well, I would make them prove they can stop OUR running game. With the WR's we have there is a fair chance they will focus much of their practice efforts on stopping Q and Fitz, so we should hit them with Edge, and Shipp, and JJ until they prove they can stop it.
IMO it will do wonders for our developing young line to prove to themselves they can run against a #1 rated run defense.
Once we get the Ravens worried about our run, we catch them creeping up and drop it in deep to our trio of fine WR's.

On the other hand, if we cannot run, it may do some damage to our young guys in the mental department, but it will also show them how much work they still need to do.

I am expecting however our young guys will step up and show the rest of the league that this team is no longer one dimensional and our running game is no longer a joke but instead something to be feared.

I don't think we can do any 1 thing to beat this team. We need to be diversified and spread it around.
Special teams,
turnovers,
and field position will decide this game.

I'll be happy when that happens with our defense.

I agree. Field position and special teams are practically the same thing, and we can't turn it over more than they do..and we can't turn it over in their territory.

If we win the field position battle and keep Turnovers low...we SHOULD win..not might...SHOULD.

You couldn't be more on the money. You could see the Seattle game turn in favor of the Cardinals once the Cards started winning the field position battle.

Sometimes all you need is for youe offense to get 2 or 3 first downs to gain field position. I know that killed us many, many last year. We'd get the ball on our 15 yd. line, 3 and out and walla, they're starting there drive at the 50 yd line.
You can bet the Ravens will be patient and try to do that to us.
