Tennessee basketball is in primetime against Kentucky.

The No. 2 seed Vols face No. 3 seed Kentucky at 7:39 p.m. ET Friday on TBS/truTV in the Sweet 16 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Tennessee (29-7) lost both regular-season matchups this season, losing 78-73 at Food City Center on Jan. 28 and falling 75-63 at Rupp Arena on Feb. 11 against the Wildcats (24-11).

UT reached the Elite Eight for the first time under coach Rick Barnes and the second time in program history last season.

How Tennessee basketball advanced in the NCAA Tournament​


Tennessee rolled through the opening weekend in Lexington with a 67-58 win against UCLA on Saturday after a 77-62 win against Wofford on Thursday.

Chaz Lanier scored 20 points and made four 3-pointers against UCLA. UT's four senior guards combined for 54 points against the Bruins, who were shut down by the Vols in the middle 20 minutes of the game.

Lanier also starred in his first NCAA Tournament game. He scored 29 points, which is the third-most in an NCAA Tournament game UT history. He hit six 3-pointers, which matched Dalton Knecht, Santiago Vescovi and Chris Lofton for the most in an NCAA Tournament game by a Vol.

How Kentucky advanced in the NCAA Tournament to face Tennessee​


Kentucky eliminated No. 6 seed Illinois and No. 14 seed Troy in its games in Milwaukee to open March Madness.

Kobe Brea scored 23 points and had six rebounds to lead the Wildcats in their 84-75 win against Illinois. UK had 14 steals against Illinois, flustering the young Illinois guards.

Otega Oweh had 20 points, eight rebounds and six assists in a 76-57 victory over Troy. Brea, Andrew Carr Brea and Brandon Garrison had 13 points each against the Trojans.
