With uncertainty along the offensive line, tackle Mike Gandy may be the answer as he is visiting from Buffalo. Having started every game for the past two seasons, Gandy would be a great addition for the Cardinals.
Originally a third-round selection (No. 68 overall) by Chicago in the 2001 draft, Gandy didn't play as a rookie before cracking the lineup one month into his second season. After that point he was a full-time starter for the remainder of that season and the next, only missing two contests in 2003 due to injury.
Gandy started the first five games of the 2004 season for the Bears at guard before being released. He was inactive for the remainder of the season and signed with the Bills as a free agent the following spring.
A versatile player, Gandy has started at both tackle and guard in his career. He could be called upon to play guard for the Cards in a pinch, if needed.
"Mike is one of the higher-rated guys we had on our board," Whisenhunt shared. "I feel like he's a proven player in this league, especially at tackle. That's the kind of guy who has a lot of the characteristics we're looking for."
