The Kansas City Chiefs signed quarterback Gardner Minshew in the offseason, providing a backup for Patrick Mahomes, who has plenty left to prove in his career.
Minshew opened up about his 2019 NFL debut game against the Chiefs during last week's press conference on Zoom.
"I don't remember much," said Minshew. "It was a blur. I remember going into the game, not expecting to play, just happy to be on the team. Unfortunately, Nick (Foles) got hurt like 12 plays in, and I went in. I remember me and my dad sitting down for dinner after, and we're like, what the heck just happened? It was unbelievable; that was an unbelievable experience. It's been super gratifying, super fortunate to have all the experience I've had in the NFL."
Minshew started 12 games for the Jaguars during his rookie season, tossing 21 touchdown passes. The 2019 performance holds as his career high, and Nick Foles would miss the entire season as Minshew briefly became the starter in Jacksonville.
Last season, Minshew played in ten games and made nine starts for the Raiders, finishing with a completion percentage of 66.3 for 2,013 yards, nine touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
