You're right. On second thought lets revoke the contract and throw-up ours hands and forget about this guy. The damn NY Times featured him in that story on a slow news day. He only took the ball back 35-40 yards consistently.

Oh BTW, when I said he was "gone", I DIDN'T say it was for a TD did I?

When you use the term "gone" in football it means precisely that "gone" not "gone" and then caught at the 30 or 40 of the other teams FYI.

Nobody said tear his contract up. and cut him. But lets get real a guy with that speed and goes undrafted? Only has 1 TD in four years? Color me skepticle.

All Im saying is that it takes more than speed.

BTW, this makes me think they didn't draft Toler as a KR/PR, but as a cover corner, which he professes to be one of the best.

I hope so. Good CBs are like gold. Never can have enough.

I still think we are dangerously thin at ILB and C

His name is too close Justin Gatlins (Olympic sprinter) thats why he wasn't invited to the combine.

Can you Imagine if Toler is good enough to play nickel, we'll have two of the fastest corners in the NFL, along with DRC..Now with Garvin on our ST as well, we'll have the fastest STs in the League, hopefully coached up by a competent coach. Im assuming he is since he's one of Whizz's coaches.

I'm surprised the Raiders didn't draft this kid. It seems anyone who runs under a 4.3 the Raiders reach for.

I am not Crowning his ass but if he is an upgrade at returner then I am happy as hell. Then he has tremendous speed to break it on top of that.

Beerz, aren't you just excited we finally have a REAL BONAFIDE burner to return kicks now? Coaching will help his cod and backpedal and all that is a bonus right now anyway. I'm predicting, not betting, at least 1 Int or fumble return for touchdown for toler this year.

I saw where our 7th round draft choice, Trevor Canfield, said he has played some center. I wonder if the staff may look at him there?

In High School. The coaches were non-committal.

Wells is the emergency centre, and I can easily imagine he'll be getting more snaps in training camp. Finding ways to save positions for game day is going to be an issue this season.

I agree with this, but not more so than in previous years.

As far as Garvin, he did have another TD called back, but how many returns for touchdown do you need to be considered "great"? I will say that a 30 yd average at a major program is impressive. That means a lot of 20 and 40 yd runs. It will be interesting to see which rookie (because I really believe a rookie gets the KO Return job) earns a spot on the roster. Will LaRod show enough at RB to make it worth keeping him? Will it be Toler or someone else that can be a position player also? Or will it be the elite track star Garvin? We will discuss this for months but in the end the coaches willl know things we don't and might base their decision on factors we don't even see.

Yes this team has upgraded the speed factor for sure. We have sorely needed that.

Arent we talking about Garvin as returner here not Toler?

So basically, if this guy doesn't completely dominate in training camp/pre-season on the kick-returns, then he is getting cut or placed on PS.

....I was so excited about him too.

Yup. He is going to have to be just lights out on returns or he is gone.

Wideout - cornerback - irrelevant.

He makes the 53 and 45 on game day, if he's lights out on KR.

If he's the answer, they'll adjust.

It doesn't necessarily mean one less CB or WO... it could be one less (fill in the blank)
