From someone who's followed this team for 30 plus years there's a few things I can say about the draft.
First, I'm not even slightly a draftnick, don't watch enough college football or care enough to make even an attempt to know who's better than who, only opinion I have is that I don't like Vince Young as an NFL QB, I think he's going to struggle but that's just MO which I just said isn't worth squat.
Secondly, this team is rising fast on the talent front and a large part of that has come through the draft. I can tell you one thing that wasn't the case before, what talent we did get was lucky just like a monkey will occassionally type a real sentence if he hacks a typewriter all day.
So whatever happens I think we can all agree that it's better than it was by light years and that the frustrations of the past are largely gone when it comes to drafting players.
DG's main strength lies in building the talent base of the team, this is year three when it should finally payoff big time in wins.
For all that I am very thankful and I don't sweat draft day anymore it's a strength of our team not a weakness anymore, just like current player retention used to be a weakness and is now a strength.
So whatever our draft guys do, they will do well for the most part and that's all you can ask, it's always a gamble but I don't even pretend to know which way it will go, I do believe they are prepared and they have an excellent plan so the chances it will work are much better than they ever used to be.
The one remaining weakness we have is game day strategy, adjustments and overall game planning, it's DG's weakspot IMO and that can possibly be overcome by quality assistants, if they do then we are set.
Let's fire up the draft then the stadium, I personally can't wait.
