slide-invisibly impeccable.
The more I listen to his stuff, Beatl;es till death, the more blown away I am by how complicated and deep of a musician he was.
What an incredible person.

I think Harrison could have been a better guitarist than he actually was....

He was on the verge of something special during the Revolver sessions, but just prior to and around that time he began focusing on the Sitar...True..that did add a dimension to quite a few Beatles tracks, but it somewhat stunted Harrison's progress.... Dont get me wrong, he was a superb player... also what obviously prevented him doing some of the more flashier solos was how he was constrained due to the Beatles not believing that any member of the band would outshine or get the spotlight over the other....

I dont mean to further detract away from Harrison, but I think Paul was a more talented guitarist, but he was forced to play bass.... Some of the best solos were done by Paul..especially on "Fixing A Hole".....

I must say... Harrison had the best solo debut compared to the others and was certainly the kindred spirit of the Beatles... No song to me can be as lovely as "Inner Light"... That also he wrote the best tracks on "Abbey Road"..... He certainly was the Dark Horse and forever will be.....

I don't know if I agree on the Paul take. Though I love McCartney's guitar.
What George gave up in sitar he turned into slide, thanks to EC.
He was definitely limited by John and Paul, which is why he was the first to walk.
He did some very special stuff on each album after the "Beatles" and had he put it into one or two albums, they would have been great.
He probably, always needed a band mate, to push him. However, there is no doubting, im my mind, how great a guitar player he was. Try doing his stuff, and getting his sound. "It don't come easy".

I agree some of Harrison's structures were complex.... His best Beatles era solos that immediately come to mind are on "Taxman", "Something", "Let It Be", "Savoy Truffle", and "Old Brown Shoe"....

He perfected the "wah-wah" peddle pretty damn good as well.... I just think though that Paul was better on guitar because he sounded a little more fluid, but I think that was again how Harrison was soo constrained.... Yeah... he began voicing displeasure moreso during the recording of "Hey Jude" which of course lead to what happened during the "Get Back" sessions....

I also loved his work on Cream's "Badge"..... I would agree that George had quite the distinctive style...it's too bad he was overshadowed throughout his time w/the Beatles... I do agree w/him probably needing a co-writer of some sort.. or perhaps a vocalist since there were times he had abruptly end a tour because he completely lost his voice......But lord.. did he have some of the most clever songs/videos ever.... He still had a lot to offer at the time of his death... I must admit I never checked out his post-posthumous release, but should......

Yea he did, on the wah wah, it's why he sings abouy noy needing it. I also think EC helped with that. He saw Claptons use and knew it could be used better, not as an influtenital part of his leads, but, a higghlight to them.
I loved what he was allowed to do with Cream, but again, super minds (the rythmn section) had other things in mind, and as it was ther last to be, nonone was out shining the three. I don't beleieve they'd ever had a guest player brfore that?
I don't know that he needed a cowriter as much as a band mate.
George died of cancer, he died trying to control the morons around him AND keep them employed, at the same time.
Who knows what, if anything, would have come of the three if he'd lived? I don't think Paul could overcome George's personality, as a writer.
But, I don't know if Paul could put his ego aside, and not be a "BEATLE" which George and Ringo did.
His "Style" is what you don't hear if your not listening, and I don't think their are much better. Not from yesterday, today or tomorrow.
Though I do know all three of them stayed friends and continued to have long nights of dinner and ukuleles after.

PS I beleieve the only thing that held george back was his message. It wasn't one with hatred of any kind, his songs were all about, are all about, love. AND us getting there.
I reiterate, this was one of the most underrated guitarists of our time. His nuances, his knowing the note, his control of his instruments. It ain't noise, it's pure bliss.
RIP George, I'll see you there soon. AND thanks for the lessons, in life, in love, and in mudic.
