The Georgia Bulldogs have started getting aggressive on the transfer portal it has rewarded them. Former Wofford Terriers guard Justin Bailey has transferred to Georgia.
Justin Bailey is transferring to his third team. Bailey originally went to South Carolina Upstate for two years before transferring to Wofford. At both schools, Bailey has established himself as a physical, aggressive defender who enjoys driving in the paint. Georgia could absolutely use that skill set, since Georgia lost departed starting Silas Demary Jr. to the transfer portal.
Bailey averaged 9.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per games last season with Wofford, who won the Southern Conference (SoCon) tournament. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound guard helped Wofford make an NCAA Tournament appearance, but the No. 15 seed Terrier lost to the Tennessee Volunteers in the opening round.
Bailey joins former California guard Jeremiah Wilkinson as Georgia's incoming transfers. This transfer portal class could be another gem for basketball coach Mike White. Last year, White acquired key depth pieces Tyrin Lawrence, Dakota Leffew, and De'Shayne Montgomery from the transfer portal.
It remains to be seen who else Georgia lands in the portal, but Bailey is in line to compete for the starting point guard. The Bulldogs are still looking to fill out the depth of the team, though. They've lost Demary, Montgomery, Savo Drezgic, and RJ Godfrey to the transfer portal, and Lawrence and Leffew are out of eligibility. Star forward Asa Newell, who was Georgia's leading scorer also entered the NBA draft.
