I hope not. I've already stated a few times (today) the reasons I'd prefer him gone. In short, his consistently awful defense seriously outweighs his occasionally strong offense. When you factor in that he is frequently bad on offense too, then dumping him IMO is a no-brainer.

He is a flashy guy who can score, so someone will pay him like 7+ million a year, if its us I will be extremely disappointed.

I highly doubt that he will get 7 mil., below the MLE seems more realistic.

I agree that the Suns shouldn't re-sign him.

When he is HOT he is one of the most entertaining guys to watch when he is not he is the most annoying person on the court ...

Sadly lately he is a lot more the later ... will be kind of sad when he gets booted, but yes he will probably have to be gone after summer.

In the same minute he can be both amazing and amazingly frustrating.
I hope his minutes are taken by TJ Warren next year.

I don't know. The marketing team loves him. He is on almost all of the ads. I think almost everyone in the league knows what he is. Will he get overpaid? I am thinking no. The Suns might keep him, if the price is decent. But they won't over pay to keep him.

Channing Frye all over again. They would have kept Frye if the deal was less expensive.

I don't think so. He's a Shannon Brown type player. Incredibly low basketball IQ, super athletic and when he's hot from 3, he's fun to watch but it's rare.

I'd say Brown was probably a better defender than Green though.

I started a counter when I saw this thread this morning figuring it would not take long.

So predictable.

Look, I'm not a huge fan of Gerald Green, but he is light years better than Shannon Brown.

If the Suns can figure out a way to keep Gerald Green financially, they should keep him. The Suns lack outside shooting. Losing him would only contribute to the problem. However, I would not over pay for him.

If they can get him for 2/3 years at $4-4.5 a year, keep him. It would make for a very tradable contract if needed under those terms. I like the guy and while I get frustrated at him from time to time, I believe overall he's been a plus for the team.

That is so true. Gerald Green is what Shannon Brown thinks he (Shannon Brown) is. They have to add shooting if they lose Green. They need a good shooter at the 2, 3, or 4.

If they sign Green for 3 years what's the point of having Warren, Ennis and Goodwin?

The Suns have 3 talented first round players that have the "potential" to better than some of their current role players. Where are these guys going to get minutes next season?

I think Green needs a bigger and more consistent role to produce the way we'd want him to. But given that we have Warren on the bench, I'd rather go that way than give those minutes to Gerald. This year, because of his sporadic minutes, he's a little bit less on offense and he's much worse on defense. I'd move him now if it were up to me. Warren, especially on defense, may not be ready for prime time but he can't be any worse than Green has been. But if we're planning on keeping Green, we need to find a way to get him 25 minutes every night and start holding him accountable for his defense and his decisions within the offense.

I'm surprised how many of you are okay with having him back next year. If he keeps playing the way he is playing this year, then giving him anything is overpaying him. The stats paint a pretty strong picture that we'd currently be better off if we lost him tomorrow for nothing.

There is also Reggie Bullock and a chance for Bogdan Bogdanovic to come over next season although the Suns planned for him to play overseas for two seasons. The Suns cannot possibly make room for all these players going forward unless they do a trade.

Both Brown and Green think they are Kobe/Jordan esque players.

Except on some nights one can almost believe it about Green. Not so about Brown.

Yea Green is no doubt better than Brown but imo their similar players in the sense they rely on chucking it and are very, very selfish players. I see Green, Brown, JR Smith, Dion Waiters, Lou Williams, Marcus Thornton, Nate Robinson, and Nick Young all as inefficient, selfish players that get playing time because they have a "chance" of going off in one of these games eventually.

Brown did have those nights as well where everything went down, albeit not as much as Green.

I even found a video of Green vs Brown lol

I view Green's job is to be primarily a chucker, so I don't view him as selfish in this regard. However, he drifts into moments when he has incredibly bad judgement where he destroys what he creates. When he has these moments, I think he gets just as frustrated by his play as do the fans. I've always thought Hornacek could control these bad moments if he kept him on a shorter leash.

In regard to Brown, I always thought he was going to do his Kobe imitation no matter what the result. Yes, he had his nights but IMO, he was more self oriented than Green. I always feel Green tries his best no matter the outcome.
