Yeah, because Denver is going to find someone with Warren's talent level in the late 4th in this crap draft.

Denver has resurrected some D-lineman's careers before (see Bert Berry and Mario Fatafehi) and Warren is more talented than they are. He also had just as many sacks as Cardinal defensive lineman not named Bert Berry from the DT position. They gave up a second day pick for him too. Good trade for both teams as Cleveland probably would have cut him.

Physically, yes, maybe, but Warren doesn't have the mind of someone like Bert Berry, and that will always keep him down. IIRC, wasn't Warren the guy that showed up for his pre-draft interview at the Cards facility with a cell phone on each ear, asking where the best clubs are in town?

That was him. Apparently Shanahan didn't learn from the Daryl Gardener fiasco.

You got a point, but with as many d-line problems Denver might potentially have with losing possibly both Pryce and Heyward, giving up only a 4th rounder isn't a bad deal for someone with Warren's talent. There's no debating the guy is a moron though.

I agree, not a bad move for Denver, Both teams got a good deal out of it.

Me too, 4th rounder just isn't a lot of risk and maybe Warren finally grows up and they get a huge steal?

This deal is idiocy by Denver. They could have had Warren for nothing by being patient. Warren is a colossal bust but Shanahan keeps thinking he can coach up maggots.

Hey if Denver wants to pay fourth round talent first round money, more power to 'em.

isn't the entire Green philosophy on free agents and trades that you get someone else's problem when they're looking to be resurrected?

This is the same philosophy as us trading for Zellner and Hambrick when everyone knew the Raiders were waiving them. Denver wanted to get Warren without competing with other teams. The reports are Warren is redoing his contract so they're not paying him the huge money Cleveland did.

Seems like a low risk potentially high reward. if he's still an idiot, they lost a 4th rounder.

BTW, what the heck is Denver doing?? First they let go of Berry last year, now Pryce and Hayward this year??

That's pushing 40 sacks/year they're giving up in just two offseasons.

It's lunacy. Having said that, though, I think the cards should go hard after one of those guys and put them on the other end. That'd be devastating for any opposing QB.

These are complete misstatements. Zellner and Hambrick performed to their historic abilities. We didn't resurrect anybody.

Green says he favors young players coming off their first contracts who have been stuck behind other players on a depth chart and who are hungry.

Warren has been a bust as a starter and is unmotivated.

Denver's GM Sundquist said after the Pro Bowl and combine it became very evident to them that Hayward was going to be in a price range much higher than they were really willing to pay for Hayward. Last night he came out and said in light of that, and with the Warren deal in the works, they were "going in a new direction" and they were confident their plan would result in a viable DL next year. It's a risk for sure but basically they appear to feel Hayward is going to get a lot more than they think he's worth.

Pryce, as Rolling Thunder has posted before he was the one guy who wasn't willing to restructure, he was limiting their options, so they decided to trade him. My guess is he wanted out and knew if he wouldn't restructure, he'd get traded. not sure why, but that's my only take on why he'd refuse to restructure knowing full well if he's traded he's going to HAVE to restructure anyways.

Why do it in ARizona if you refuse in Denver, unless you just don't want to be in Denver for some reason? Personally I want Pryce, I think we should be talking to them about him either for Shelton, or for a pick if it's not too high.
ASsuming of course his back passes physical exams.

At this point, I wouldn't go as far to say that he wanted out. I think he felt that Denver had to pay him since there was no one else and he could get away with it. Shanahan in essence called his bluff, but someone will pay TPso it's really not a big deal to him.

Warren for a fourth round pick is not a bad deal for Denver. Just wonder how many years he has left on his rookie contract and what the dollars are.

If he can get a fourth maybe Wendall Bryant can get something? 6th or 7th maybe?

Was just thinking the same thing. I would think we could get at least a 5th rounder for him with Warren getting a 4th.
