Former Liverpool and Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier has died at the age of 73, according to reports in France. Houllier was manager at Anfield for six years between 1998 and 2004, winning six trophies in that time including the FA Cup and Uefa Cup. He later managed Aston Villa, leaving in 2011. Gary Lineker led the tributes, describing him as: "One of football’s smartest, warmest and loveliest people." RMC sport and sports daily L'Equipe said Houllier had a heart operation in Paris recently. More follows.
