The New York Giants took a step toward solving their quarterback challenges on Friday, whether it is forward or backward is up to debate.

The NFC East doormat agreed to terms with Jameis Winston on a two-year contract that could be worth a total of $16 million with incentives per multiple reports.

WInston has become a charming personality for his entertaining ways. However, he remains inconsistent at best on the football field.

In 2024, he played for the Cleveland Browns and it was a roller coaster. He was 2-5 in seven starts and threw 13 touchdown passes and 12 interceptions while throwing for 2,121 yards.

Overall in a 10-year career with three teams, the former Heisman winner from Florida State is 36-51 as a starter. He has thrown 154 touchdown passes and 111 interceptions. Overall, he has thrown for 24,225 yards.

The Giants' quarterback situation has been in flux. Daniel Jones was given a huge contract but never lived up to it and was cut during the 2024 season. The Giants have also used Tommy DeVito, a free agent from Syracuse, and Drew Lock, a one-time high draft pick who is now a journeyman, at signal-caller.

The team holds the third pick in the upcoming NFL draft. There have been rumors the Giants will try and swing a deal with the Tennessee Titans for the first overall pick and then take Miami QB Cam Ward with the selection if they can make the trade.

Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers had also been mentioned in the mix for quarterbacks the Giants were pondering adding for 2025. Winston would seemingly eliminate both of those possibilities.
