Hindsight being what it is, I can't recall but did we even contact Sproles' agent or did we even bring him in? Both received similar contacts. Sproles got a 3 year deal for $10.5 million with $5 million guaranteed, a $3 million signing bonus spanning the 3 years, with $2 million against the cap for 2014, $4 million for 2015, and & $4.5 million for 2016. Sproles got $1 million for 2014 and he's due $3 million next season and $3.5 in 2016 in base salary.http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/philadelphia-eagles/darren-sproles/

Ginn got a 3 year deal worth $9.75 million with $3.25 million guaranteed, $2.25 million in signing bonuses over the 3 years, with $2.5 million toward the cap in 2014, $4 million in 2015, and $4 million for 2016. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/arizona-cardinals/ted-ginn-jr/

Similar contracts but in reality, Sproles is heads and shoulders a better option than Ginn both in the return game and on offense. Why did we go after him instead of Ginn who was terrible.

They got sproles In a trade, and Ginn was a free agent. Though I would rather Sproles, not sure if a small back is what they were looking for at the time.

This was before they drafted John Brown, they had no way of knowing they would get a burner WR they liked in the draft. That was as important to the Cards as his returning kicks. Sproles is no help in the deep passing game.

Sproles a PROVEN player every season of his career
Ginn - a flash in the pan team after team buys into....reality is far over rated

I will say Ginn did better catching the ball than I thought he would. I wasn't much, but I'm an idiot that hopes that flash can become great...yea I'm a fool for hoping, but that's all I got and we are stuck with him.

Wouldn't say we're stuck with him. We can cut bait because this stiff isn't worth $4 million.

Ginn was unfortunately a very poor choice for this club. He did perform a little as a WR, but was so far down the depth chart after the draft, (the Browns), that he was little used. He was virtually worthless as a kick/punt returner. He actually was a detriment there, and apparently has no wish to continue in that line of work. He cost us field position in almost every kick/punt return he attempted to field, and even some on those he didn't attempt to field. I believe he played simply because of the money he was being payed. He and Butler managed to make one sorry duo on special teams.

Wasn't he in Carolina?
