He has two years left on his current deal. I would maybe extend him but not redo his deal as he wants to do. He will set a bad habit. I would rather wait until after the 2005 season to do anything.

IMO, many Cardinals fans are treating Boldin like the hot girl at the bar that says hi to you as you pass her in the bar. She had you at hello.

Don't get me wrong, I want Boldin here long term but the relationship needs to be a win win for both sides. The Cardinals should not overpay for him. He had one good year. Give me two or three good years and we can talk about a big extension. Nobody in the NFL would give Boldin a big contract today.

It is a stretch to say that he is a top 10 receiver in the NFL. Yet he will want top five money! Many Cards fans say that he is ten times the receiver that Fitz is and he deserves more money than Fitz got. Fitz was a #3 pick. Boldin was a second round pick. That is the name of the game on your first contract. It is based on college performance and potential.

Offensive players are paid to do one thing... socre touchdowns. Boldin had eight in 2003 (rookie year) and Fitz had eight in 2004 (rookie year). Fitz is not as far behind as many Cardinals fan think.

Kind of agree although if you put Fitz in the same offense Quan was in for 2003 I seriously doubt he matches that 8 TD stat. In fact I doubt he lasts the season, you see the amount of big hits Quan took because Sullivan's offense was "use the middle of the field". I can't remember which game it was but the postgame story on ESPN had the usual comments from Eric Allen that they do on every game. his comment on that game was something like "Anquan Boldin is the toughest rookie WR I have ever seen but if they don't change their offensive philosophy soon they are going to kill the poor kid."

Week after week Quan got open over the middle, Blake and later Josh hit him, and then safeties and LB's lined up to try and take his head off. Johnson got some of it but nowhere near as much as Quan did. It's a miracly he played the whole year with the beating he took.

I think most rookies would have been traumatized for life by what Quan went through in 2003, I am convinced that's why he bulked up this year he figured damn if that's how the NFL is I need to get even stronger.

Boldin will get his money. He will enter Rod Graves mind a la Scanners and using his super powers, will persuade him to open up the checkbook.
