Why would we trade a pick for this guy when Keim has been talking about trading players at positions where we have a glut of talent. If the Cardinals are going to trade for a player it better be a player for player trade.

Keim could probably trade some players for late round picks and then use one of those picks for Glennon, so next year's draft stays safe.

I think you might be either overestimating what we can get for our expendable players in a trade or underestimating what Glennon would warrant in terms of a pick. I think we might be looking at a 7th or 6th for a pick everyone knows we are releasing anyway and a 4th or higher for Glennon.

which is fine. I would give a third right now.

If we can get some 5/6/7's and make some room, I have no problem losing our third for a proven QB.

so you would go a late first rounder to groom instead? I feel that risk is too high vs taking a young guy that has proven he can play in the nfl.

That was the argument being made. Your going to get like the 3rd or 4th best prospect, mtl drafting late in the Rd's where we usually are, or burn a 3rd now to start grooming him as Palmers successor. Stanton is 31 and Glennon is only 25. That's if they're loosing hope on Thomas already.

It allows you to continue building other positions, like CB for instance early in the draft next year.

If a trade could be swung for Glennon then I would like to see it as a player and a late round 6-7 draft choice depending on who that player was. I would bring in Glennon and see what he has while still holding onto Stanton for the duration of his contract. I would bid adieu to Thomas and carry one of the other two left on the PS. I would still look at what is available in the up coming draft for the next two years also.

Palmer is probably done in a couple of years and a replacement needs to be found and groomed. Yes I may be overstock piling the position but since it's the most important position on the team, as a GM, I would want to make sure I have a successor to Palmer in place when the time comes and Palmer calls it a career.

In the right hands, this kid could be a stud. He is tall, has great arm strength, and is filling out as he gets older. He has some experience, but still is young enough to be coached up properly. This is a great fit for us and our coach, at the right time, at a great price, plus he is kind of cute with all the freckles. Just think what it would do for all the freckled faced kids out there looking for a role model to emulate.

Ive wanted glennon for a long while and every time there is talk I have hoped we would go for him. Hes worth a third rounder easy.

And always thought stanton was a placeholder. He is a one read QB that has a good deep ball and plays safe. Hes like alex smith with an arm. Not going to win you games but wont lose you games either. The only reason we wanted stanton back so bad is because logan and lindley are not nfl talents.

IMO, it's a no brainer for a third round pick or less. To put it in perspective, the Cardinals have not been hitting home runs even with their second round picks. He is probably a better prospect than Kevin Kolb who the Cardinals gave up a second round pick.

I've been wanting the Cards to make this move all offseason.

The problem is BA luvs Stanton & even signed him to be the starter before the Palmer trade, thus I don't think it will ever happen.

I agree with you on the 3rd and given the strength of our roster it will be more difficult for late round draft picks to make the roster anyway.

The problem is that the Bucs have no real backup behind Jameis Winston. Glennon is an experienced qb and could start if something happens to Winston.
Maybe we give them a pick and Logan Thomas :D.

Getting Glennon would be a fantastic move. He won't command a 3rd round pick from anyone. 4th may be a bit of an overpay but I would consider it.

I think if the Cards wanted to trade for Glennon they would have done it already. Probably a year or so ago.

For the right price Glennon would be smart play for now and the future, IMO.

Earlier someone posted that Stanton was widely regarded as one of the top backups in the NFL which caused a spit-take for me.

I was hoping they would make a trade before the draft because everybody knew the Bucs were going to take Winston.

I don't even argue anymore.

Now I just observe "Glennon" conversations like I do Gazelle at the Zoo.

Winston, Jameis.... guy probably would rather have a backup gig where he can be groomed to take over rather than be perpetually stuck behind the new chosen one.

Yet, even last year, they still brought in Josh McCown of all people to start over Glennon. That's not exactly a ringing endorsement.

Even with that, Glennon only has two years left on his contract. Do you really think Palmer isn't going to play this year and next? Barring injury, that would surprise me. I'm all for grooming a guy to be the replacement, but we'd have to re-sign Glennon to a deal if we got him at this point.

Actually it was smart of the Bucs to hold onto Glennon even though they knew they were going to take Winston. As a matter of fact I would hold onto him this year as insurance should Winston fail miserably.

I'd give a 2nd in a heartbeat. I plan on it being a bottom 10 pick in the 2nd anyway and we don't seem to care about making smart choices (Niklas, Minter, probably Golden) in that round as it is.

I don't see him being a third QB. At his age he's looking for more. I don't see him sitting if Palmer plays 3 more and he will. BTW Winston is the real deal I said he would be. He will become one of the top QB's in the league. The off-field stuff will fade with maturity.

I was always surprised FSU didn't get a "mentor" to keep track of Winston. They pay this guy Bonasorte to handle the law after these events, but they are not very proactive.

lol...you are basing your position on the decisions of a staff that is NFL historically bad at making personnel decisions...... then you have Lovie Smith....who did not draft Glennon,...making the decisions on who should start...he chose McCown because Josh had just had a stellar year.he could have asked any Cardinal fan to scout McCown for him,.....I loved McCown while he was here, but the truth is simple with him...he has flashes, but he has poor vision and makes bad decisions....but damn he can flatten a defender!! He put it together for one season and suddenly a guy like Lovie Smith thinks he has blossomed,...rather than pay attention to the near decade of tape prior to that one season...oh yeah,..and the system changed again too.... McCown was never their answer...but like many coaches, Lovie wants to win or lose with his own guys,....so Glennon never has nor ever will get a fair shake under Lovie Smith. One could even go so far as to argue that Glennon has yet to be "Taught" how to play QB in the NFL...........

...okay, enter Bruce Arians...a coach, a teacher, an educator, and a motivator.... one who prefers a tall pocket passer....Glennon is 6'6".....a coach who prefers the deep ball...Glennon has a respectable cannon....a coach who runs a complicated offense....Glennon by all accounts, is no idiot....

it would appear to be a very good match,....then you add in Larry Fitz,...John Brown,.....Juke Ellington.... we have weapons,....weapons that Tampa did not really possess...... with a season or two riding pine Glennon could do very well in Arizona.

I am biased,....I wanted us to draft him....... but since there are no Brady's or Mannings in the next few drafts,.....I would give a third for Glennon........
or maybe give them Michael Floyd for Glennon and a fourth?
