I agree. If they can somehow get him. Do it. Trade BJ and a 3rd and do it now. (I have no idea about the cap hit)

One of the better? That's a joke...right? Madly overrated.

Yet, he is better than all of our CB's put together. Look at what we currently have, and then look at Hall. Call him overrated if you want, but he knows how to play the ball, once it is in the air.

Hall

My brother is a long time Falcon fan and like some sport people have said, Hall is to an extent overrated. I don't know whether to agree with this or not, many times he does go after the big play and gives up the coverage and his tackling skills would make most think our CBs are excellent tacklers. I really don't know what to think of the guy value wise. By all means I think he would help this team but his price might not be worth what he will expect to sign for.

Let's bring him in for the Bengals game so 85 can put another torch job on him.

He talks a big game, doesn't back it up, gets torched ALL the time, and is very soft. I'll take Eric Green over him....

He's better than most of what we have, but at the price he will go for? Gimme a rookie, or a quieter guy that produces better at a much lower price.

He talks a big game, thats for sure, but he does produce at least occasionally. If you would rather have a rookie back there, go for it. There are 3 positions in the league where you shouldn't start a rookie if at all possible, offensive line, QB, and CB.

No Thanks.

He is fast but he is average at best who has only made a name for himself by talking smack with the bigger name WR's in the league and maybe actually doing something against them 10% of the time.

In 2005 his first full year starting the Atlanta pass D against #1 Wr's was 17th and 14th against #2 WR's.

In 2006 when WR's and OC figured him out the Atlanta pass D against #1 Wr's was 31st and 31st against #2 WR's.

This year, it is 25th and 30th in order.

Stats from footballoutsiders, look at the bottom of the page for the #1, #2 WR rankings.

http://footballoutsiders.com/stats/teamdef.php

Atlanta has never had a good passing D while he has been there. He has a career high of only 12 passes defensed in 3 years prior to this one. There are already 5 DB's in the league with that many and its only week 7. Just a side note Rod Hood is one of those 5.

I think it is Seth Joyners Book or someone like him that breaks down the most overrated and underrated players in the league. In it Hall was the most burned CB for TD's in the league last year.

The mediocre CB and his attitude can go somewhere else IMO.

He makes a few INT's but he does not play the ball in the air very well and rarely makes a pass defensed.

For his one 6 INT season he gave up double that in TD's.

I will say in Petrino's defense I was stunned how fat Jackson was when they last played on Tv. He's never been a "svelte" guy back to his days in Oakland but he was like King Kong Bundy.

The guy was so fat and out of shape he could only play 10 -15 snaps a game. And it wasnt like their run D was any good with him so might as well cut the fat so to speak.

Hall is just looking for anything and everything to complaing about and he will make sure the media hears him.

Antoine Cason

Has he actually been playing at a 1st round caliber level so far this season. Or are you going off of last years performance and preseason hype.

Honest question becuase I havent been following college ball all that much this season except for Pitt(parents home town team), ASU, and Virginia(only to watch my favorite player this season Chris Long, who looks like a absolute monster by the way). Other then that I just havent been making time to watch anything else.

A lot on what you asked, but he is still getting the hype, for example - NFL Draft Countdown CB Rankings has him as the #1 CB.

I also know that he has been playing safety alot this year. Stoops moved him there after injuries to their starter.

I just know that both DeSean Jackson and LaVelle Hawkins of Cal said Cason is the best CB they've faced in college.

Last year DeSean had a big game against Cason although Cason had the crucial pick to win the game. This year Cason held him to 3 catches 39 yards no TD's.

I really like what I've seen of Cason. Jackson specifically said nobody plays him better man to man than Cason.

I also love Dwight Lowery of San Jose State although not as high as cason(not as fast) he's also added punt returns to his resume this year.

Hard to say, because teams aren't even looking at him. I'm serious...I watched the USC game and they snapped and turned to the other side of the field 95% of the time. They were bringing Cason on a lot of blitzes to give him something to do. He got a lot of pressure on the QB and forced many bad throws.

He completely takes away a half of the field.

I'll take Cason over Hall. For someone who runs off at his hole like he does, his production is sad. He will get big time money this offseason, and just flat out isn't worth it. Is he a legit #1CB? Yes, but not much more. I think the fact that he even considered among the elite is just another sign of how bad the CB position is in today's football.

First--

I am still planning on the Cards drafting somewhere in the 20s (and to answer in advance all you smart alecs, not after trading down)--

I think Cason could be there because he probably wont run an elite 40 time, and a couple faster CBs will be taken ahead of him ---

but I agree, the guy can play the position regardless of what he times out at.

Say what you want...I would still prefer to take a tackle in the first round. The only other option would be if we moved Wells to tackle, but I have seen enough to know that we need more talent at offensive tackle. We have invested a lot into our offense and we have to protect that investment.
