Well, if you watch them that's not what you see, but I could be wrong too.

However you want to label their style, the LBs are not involved in the pass rush. Nor are the DBs except for the occasional blitz. I guess that's what my point was. They get pressure out of the 4.

Exactly. Now, I'm not saying it wasn't Greene that was in favor of playing the 2-gap system, but what if he had wanted the 1 gap system? It's kind of hard to breed aggressive, attacking defenders when they HAVE to read and react. There's more than one possible side to this, obviously.
True. I have always hated the passive way our defense was supposed to read and react on the DL. Offenses would sit there and pick us apart. It always seemed like the opposition was waayyy to comfortable. I wanna' see some (organized) chaos and mayhem. Force the offense to make quick (bad) decisions. We've got the speed on "D"; let's see some seek and destroy. In turn, I think the attacking style mentality would juice our offense a little. The Cards' need to play with more of an edge. Just my opinion.

Prior to Tony Dungy coming to Tampa from Minn, the Bucs employed a 2 gap system.( The Defensive coordinator's name escapes me) Warren Sapp Struggled with it as did his team mates. Upon Dungy's arrival he told Warren "All I need & want you to do is get in the Backfield" . Sapp's reply??? I can do that all day. The Bucs defense right now should be described as a dictatorship. They simply impose their will upon Offenses, & force them to make adjustments to their style of play. They made adjustments vs Michael Vick & Mc Nabb, those games were times that they might have seemed like a read & react type scheme( compensating for QB mobility) Believe me they're far from read & react. They simply get after it!!!! They can drop people back in zones & be effective because the front 4 is so disruptive.
