HAHAHA come on man, because Sarver told him he rather wants to spend 40M$ on Quentin Richardson than 14M$ on the #7 pick that could have been UofA alumni Andre Iguodala?

Unreal, it was 100000000% Bryan Colangelo.

The contract was for 6 years?!?!? That would be about 6 million per year range. I don't think Sarver or Colangelo would have thought twice about a contract in that range. I think the issue was that by drafting a #7 pick chances are after the rookie contract, Sarver would have been in a position to commit long term to that player with a huge contract.

It's no secret that a year before Sarver bought the team he working with Jerry on financial aspects of the team as a condition of the sale.

Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - The Phoenix Suns signed Los Angeles Clippers restricted free agent guard Quentin Richardson to a lucrative offer sheet on Wednesday. Terms of the contract were not disclosed, but earlier reports stated that the deal is for six years and worth between $48 million and $50 million.

Yeah I mean clearly Sarver wanted BC to dump the pick so he would not have to pay Iguodala who is from UofA like Sarver himself a mere 12M$ over 4 seasons because he is cheap and wanted to save money so he instructed Bryan Colangelo to go out and sign Quentin Richardson to a 6yr/50M$ contract instead.

Brilliant!¬

The chance to get a very good player between #9-15 is MUCH smaller than in the top 5.

Anyone better than the backup Point Guards we have now.

Considering that BC867 expects the same scouts that got us Telfair and Price to suddenly bring us the messiah next season from a shallow FA pool.
I couldn't find the word "messiah" in my posts. If we lose Nash, our current backup PG's would not be the answer. Whomever we replace him with would have to come from the outside.

Do you really disagree that Nash's replacement (should he leave or be traded) is not on our current roster?

I remember thinking i'd go nuclear if we signed Okur/Nash, but if we had done that and kept the pick and took Iggy or Deng:

Steve Nash
Joe Johnson
Iggy/Deng
Amare
Okur

Would have been absolutely unstoppable as well. And Okur would have been the perfect five for this team because he could stick the jumper all day long and even could have space the floor from the 5.

Well Lesson learnt..

So for the next Suns core, they need to draft Best available talent, they should have the mentality that they are in need of new stars as opposed to role players to fit around Nash...

Had we kept the pick we could have offered only the MLE to another guy instead of Q. So definitely no Okur.

We could have traded Marion however in his prime for a center like Camby probably. Camby was FA that year, maybe they could have worked out a sign and trade had they tried..

holy crap... forgot about him.

Jesus...

Nash
JJ
Marion
Amare
Okur

Iggy/Deng

Man, that team would have been outrageous.

Agreed. Would have loved to see that team on the court or even Camby. I wanted the Suns to get him somehow when he was a FA. I think we would have had to clear room. I think keeping JJ was much more important versus Marion. Maybe that would have gotten it done?

What do you guys think of getting Jerryd Bayless?

Tonight: 28 pts (9 out of 17, 3's - 3 out of 5), 6 rebs, 9 asts, 3 stls, 1blk,

Games started as point guard: 17
17.9 PPG
6.9 APG
2.8 TOVPG
2.49 A/TO ratio
.486 FG%

He has also been playing tremendous defense. The next Russel Westbrook anyone?
