This is would be the worst thing to do. $32 million is an insult.
I think it's better than offering nothing.

And I disagree I don't think it is an insult. Russell Wilson is only making 35$ million and he is like the 5th best paid qb.

Listen all you want, sure. KM ain't going to settle for the team listening. When he and his agent try to force the issue, what are you doing? I'm not offering top market value; I'm going for the option. You?
Option right now, unless he would settle for less. I need another year to decide, and I wouldn't doubt if the Cardinals felt the same way.

Don't look at the offer from 3 years ago, look at the most recent.

This is exactly the point.

Russell Wilson signed a 4 year, $140M new money extension with the Seattle Seahawks on April 15, 2019 that included a $65M signing bonus, $107M of total guarantees, and an average annual salary of $35M. At the time of signing this deal was the highest average paid contract, most total guarantees, and biggest signing bonus in NFL history.

Now he is only 5th because when each new QB gets signed, it is near the highest ever.

The funniest part of Kyler's letter is the assertion that the NFC is stacked with great quarterbacks. LOL. Aaron Rodgers then ???????. Tom Brady just retired. Drew Brees' arm fell off then he retired.

Dak, Matt Ryan, Matt Stafford. The class of the NFC. Yikes.

If the Cards had offered anything at all, we likely wouldn't be having this conversation. Not responding to a reasonable first offer was bush league.

My guess is he wants to be the highest paid QB. Therein lies the problem.
After the second half collapse (again) and not showing up for the playoff game, as a competitor, I would be embarrassed to come out and try to demand top QB money.
That's what makes it more of a joke. That him or his agent could come out with a straight face and say I deserve more when you haven't done jack with the opportunities you have had.
Maybe If he would have come out in 2020 and won those last two regular season games (against a backup and 3rd stringer). Then this year to look like a scared little kid out on the field for the playoff blow out.

We have no idea the agent said what the market rate is, that's not highest paid.

The team has the upper hand here as they have him signed to a contract with a fifth year option. I think the wisest move would be to exercise that fifth year option, tell Murray and his agent that we are not interested in offering any type of extension at this point. Place the ball back into their court and see how they respond. If Murray threatens to hold out, then you know all that stated desire to lead the team to playoffs and Super Bowls was just hooey. If Murray really thinks he's the one to lead the team to the promise land then he would step up and work toward that end knowing that if he does then he controls what kind of contract he can demand.

If team Murray decides to play hardball with threatened holdouts and sitting out the season, it speaks volumes about where he's really at and it's all about how much can I fleece the team for and get a big payday. For me, asking for $150 million guaranteed is a telling sign of where exactly they Murray and his agent are coming from. In fact the team should make a decision quickly so if team Murray decides to walk away from the 2022 season the team has time to find a capable QB to fill in for 2022.

I think the worst thing the team can do is cave in and give him a contract anywhere near what they are asking for.

HM is an all star QB in my eyes. I'd prefer to pay him next year but you do what you have to do.

Stafford isnt going to be cheap even though I think his numbers are inflated by McVays offense and a number of QBs would be even better in that offense.
That a nice tightrope yur walking! IE, Stafford Blows and a lot of other QB's are better, but he's still gonna break the bank.
lol.
I do agree we will have to pay him, but our owner is into converting wages into bonuses, which I believe makes it easier cap wise? He's worth the cash he is about to make. Three comeback drives in a row and a Lombardi...I say, PAY THE MAN!

Kyler thinks he's worth the kwan...PAY THE MAN, Bidwill! You don't need any other FA's anyway....

Was an MVP candidate first part of the season...was actually running away with it. You pay him cause he's one of the best in the league. We lost tons of players at the wrong time. When he has an o line he's almost unstoppable

Cards have to make a decision. The choices seem to be.
1.They give him 40-45 now (this offseason)
2. They wait a year and risk Kyler being upset with the team and causing an issue, like we are seeing with Rodgers.
3. Trade him.
4. Let him walk at the end of his contract.

I see multiple problems with waiting.
1. QB prices will only go up if they do decide he is the QBoF and want to extend him. Next year it would be at least 45-50 or more.
2. Waiting the one more year with players haven't worked well for Keim at all in recent memory. (Chandler this offseason, Reddick last etc)

Of course there are some benefits with waiting.
1. Kyler might not be the guy; Kliff might not be the coach; Hell Keim might not be the GM.
2. Not deciding what to do with Kyler now only adds more uncertainty and instability on the franchise.

My biggest problem in all of this... The Cards should have already KNOWN what they were going to do about Kyler before his tirade. The season has been over for 6 weeks now. If that meltdown was 'Kyler's fault' they have had plenty of time to know this and make it clear what their intentions were. SF has pretty much made it clear that they want to move on from Jimmy G for example.

New TV money hits after next season and the cap is going to explode. 40 million will be middling

I think he keeps improving next season

I think we should take care of this now (this offseason) cause you dont want to worry about contracts in the offseason of Burrow and Herbert.

Herbert might get a 50 mill deal next offseason.

So a 42 million salary will be just 13 million more than his 5th year option.

Then he gets franchised and will make 1.2 times that 29 million so 35 million

A second franchise tag would be 144% of that number or 51 million.

So the floor of any extension is an average of 39 million

Josh Allen cap hits for the new deal starting next season:

23’ - 39.7m
24’ - 41.7m
25’ - 51.2m
26’ - 46.9m
27’ - 40.1m
28’ - 41.5m

They can get out if it after 2024 and save money on the cap. It’s not really that bad. If I’m the Cards I don’t mind that kind of structure on a deal.
