Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic runs through several critical plays that spelled defeat for the Cardinals against Seattle in Week 3, including the one featuring a third-down pass to Andre Roberts on a receiver screen.

I think this is what frustrates me the most. Yeah its easy to overreact and say blow it all to hell but this is inline with what I saw the first two games. Potentially explosive passing and runnign game but not enough consistency. The offense is just not functioning like a machine as yet, and when you look at the guys making mistakes in the plays its guys like Heap, Colledge, and even Kolb. Guys who have been here for 2 months.

Saying that Matt Hasselbeck is doing wonders with the same odds stacked against him so maybe its not something we should completely look to fall back on. What sucks is we needed to get these wins early and round into form late as the middle of the schedule is brutal.

The take by Williamson is good too:

Kevin Kolb and the Arizona Cardinals must be doing something right.

They lead the NFL in yards per pass attempt on first down (11.0), just ahead of the New England Patriots (10.9) and the unbeaten Buffalo Bills (10.8).

They rank among the top 10 in the same category on third down (7.8).

Kolb has hurt teams with the deep ball, completing 4 of 7 attempts for 158 yards on passes thrown more than 20 yards beyond the line of scrimmage. His 22.6-yard average per attempt on these throws ranks among the NFL's top five, just ahead of Drew Brees' 21.9 average.

Running back Beanie Wells, though sidelined against Seattle in Week 3, ranks first with 3.3 yards per carry gained after contact, just ahead of Adrian Peterson (3.2), Ricky Williams (3.0), Peyton Hillis (2.9) and Michael Turner (2.8).

Theres alot to like about the offense most of all we have a QB to build around and that makes you a lot closer to good then bad in the NFL. Problem is we need Kolb to get better faster and am hoping the friendly confines of UofP provide that opportunity.

IMO with a year in the offense and a couple more parts (keep in mind next offseason is the first time there are no key players to resign) we can make a NFC title run IMHO, if things go right and assuming we address WR#2, LT, and OLB.

But this year we can win a sorry division. Problem is we need to get alot better faster.

I don't know if we can win the division, but at least should make a strong push.
Realizing Somers' take is only one example, it seems consistent with Whiz's presser message.

Dutch, this team has so many variables, if and hope as we call it, that they could finish anywhere from dead last to first in the NFC West.

We really won't know who they are until they go to Minnesota. If they win Sunday it still could be the traditional bad Cardinal team rising up to win unexpectedly, well, for those who don't know the team as we do, at home against a favored opponent.
