Love the whole Talking Stick resort and facilities... But no bueno on the name for the former US Airways Arena... Uggghhh....
So we now have our NHL and our NBA teams sponsored by Indian Casinos... Not that there's anything wrong with that...

I actually don't mind "Gila River Arena" because it's not "Gila River CASINO Arena". I actually think it sounds great. Just like I like "Chase Field" because it's not "Chase Bank Field."

I would have been fine with "Talking Stick Arena" or something like that. But "Talking Stick Resort Arena" is just a mouthful and sounds corporate and lame. It's probably not as bad as "University of Phoenix Stadium" or "Jobing.com Arena", but it's bad.

They have concerts at the Talking Stick Resort. I can already see people being confused between the Talking Stick Resort and the Talking Stick Resort Arena and showing up at the wrong place to see Elvis Lives.

This was my biggest complaint. Lots of confusion if you just say "the concert is at Talking Stick".

I've been pushing for this for years. Legalize sports betting and officially allow the players and the refs to participate. No restrictions. You want to take some money to fix the game, you better hope that other official didn't take an even bigger payout to go the other way.

I know you are joking but it has a sting.

After the Tim Donaghy matter, I would think the NBA would stay away from sports betting.

That's now 3 out of the 4 major sports facilities in Phoenix named after gambling establishments. What's the third you ask? The University of Phoenix, where you gamble that your degree from there is going to mean anything.

As a dedicated Southwest flyer, my two least favorite airlines were American Worst and US Air. When they merged into US Airways, they deserved each other.

And, don't forget, in addition to Talking Stick Resort and Talking Resort Arena, there's the D'backs spring training ballpark -- Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. No concerts there, though.

I like the arena name when it was called America West Arena. It had a nice ring to it. When it was changed to US Airways Arena, it didn't have a nice ring to it.

I hope they get someone in there that doesn't make the name of the arena even worse then it is now.

Honestly I liked both America West Arena & US Airways Center names.
