For once it would be nice to read a thread that stayed with the topic of that thread.

Tango asked me why I started a thread about a topic that was already on the board about 10 times over.

At the time I thought, true why did I start it? Well, after looking over the board today I KNOW WHY.

Most threads start out with great potential, but then comes out to be a 10 page fight between Vikesfan, who thank goodness is banned, and some other guy. AND THE FIGHT IS NOT EVEN ABOUT WHAT THE THREADS TOPIC IS !!!

1st off most of us don't have 10 hours to cycle through 60 pages of material to find the 10 pages of actually information about a thread.

2nd off it would be nice to read up on what people are actually saying about the topic stated, and not about how fat Vikesfan's momma is.

When the offseason's dead time was here I didn't mind so much but now that the season is starting to kick it in to high gear I would like to read more about the Cardinals and what is going on and less about Vikesfan's worthless life which seems to consist of sitting on this board all day and picking fights about how much he knows about football.

BAN HIM and BAN him for good. And maybe he will walk outside of his trailor a find out it is no longer winter outside.

Peace

I've done the same as original thoughts and comments are lost when a thread gets into a pissing contest for over 10 pages that has nothing to do with the original subject.

I like vikesfan, I think he's a decent guy. That being said, I do agree he has a terrible knack for threadwasting. If he could only stop picking fights, I do believe he has some knowledge and some insight. If he wouldn't proclaim he has be-all / end-all knowledge and insight into all things Dennis Green I think most people here would take him more seriously.

I can see how a a thread gets off topic. A post is about McCown and then it moves into the QB position itself. Example my gripe about McCown is not McCown but fact there is no real viable alternative if he does not work out. So then topic moves into talking about King. Anyway I am probably quilty of drifting off specific topic of the headline a time or two. I guess a better solution is to start new thread in a case like the McCown example.

My view is that a lot of the "problems" with topics getting hijacked is not the tangents that might arise as mentioned before. Those can just "naturally" happen at times as mentioned above.

I think the bigger problem is usually attibuted to :

Too many posters childishly concerned more about post count than content.
If you need the recognition, through your posts, then I suggest you try the quality route rather than the quantity route. 6000 thumbs up or cutesy one liners don't mean squat, other than proof of immaturity.

Too many people not taking the time to read through a thread, and only posting based on maybe the last post or two they MIGHT have read, or the title of the thread. To me, if you aren't willing or can't spend the time to read the previous posts, then don't post...its that simple. If you are adding a comment without reading, and then change the topic, again that , to me, is the epitome of lack of respect for others who read and post here...and again...immature,

Being too concerned about being funny and "cute" rather than posting something that actually informs, expresses an actual opinion on the matter, asks a pertinent question, etc.
A little humor is fine, but some people seem to make that about their only guiding principle in their posts. It actually seems to me that a lot of these type posts are really nothing more than a cover up for lack of any actual knowledge of what they are talking about in regard to the topic at hand.

The apparent need for recognition....starting threads that already exist, apparently just so everyone is sure so see THAT poster's name...and thus you end up with 6 different posts on the same topic and a real chinese fire drill.

I was gone all weekend so I missed whatever caused the latest issue with VF. to be fair to him, I, and others, have had numerous long running debates with him and for that I plead guilty to thread jacking.

But I guess whatever caused it this time wasn't my fault since I wasn't around to cause it.

Yeah well, some of us just do not feel comfortable with posting long drawn out posts. Oh... and I am not into my one liners for the post count... just look at how often I post.

Personnally I love the one liners and stuff on this board! Maddog, Section11, and Cardinal.Ken are some of the best at it. It breaks up the monotiny of some of the dribble on this board.

You think it is childish... I think it is funny and I like it. :p

hey, we're cardinals fans. we need a shorter attention span so as not to stew over the latest loss for too long.

Yeah, he should have mentioned them too. Now this is going to encourage Ryan and Assface to post more one liners :|

 You are correct sir. If he wasn't such a know it all, DG brown noser that feels the need to post 10,000 times a day and destroy perfectly good threads he would be just fine. :D

I think there are too many last-word-charlies posting in this thread to be pointing too many fingers at VF.

I like it when someone has a take and it doesn't suck. I can also appreceiate a little lively debate about it, but I hate it when it goes back and forth stating the same thing over and over again or just posting to get the "last" word in as though that signifies their opion is correct.

VF is guilty of that, but he is not the only one. It is usually one of those guys with a really high post count... :D

Tango HATES one liners.

I try not to HATE anything. Even dumb arsed little schoolboys who can do nothing but post them only. I just have no use for them.

I refuse to be....as Bill Maher says: "kid whipped" by a bunch of immature brats that have no respect for much of anything or anyone, and that seem to think that doing that, and that only, is somehow "cool".
To me that's about as "cool" as a popcorn fart.

It never ceases to amaze me how some can glorify a short attention span, as if that is something desireable. Blow of consideration of other people as a waste of time, etc.

I have nothing at all against one liners. As long as that's not all that is being posted.

If you are so sytaxically challenged that you can't comprehend anything thing beyond..."Hey dude", "you suck", "he sucks", "they suck" and a post of more than two or three simple short sentences, then don't waste intelligent people's time with your nonsense.

This board didn't gain it's poplularity because of imbeciles like that. It has grown because it has more than the normal amount of intelligent people who do post who don't do all that childish BS....and actually try and hold an intelligent conversation.

It also cracks me up how some bozos can offer up the lame excuse, that they don't want to post long drawn out posts...yet spew out a far greater volume in senseless one liners than any single, maybe longer post, that actually says something intelligent.

No, I don't hate one-lineers. Kinda like them acutally. When used by someone more than an obvious half wit.
