And J-Rich was not all that good as some fans make him out to be in hindsight.
He was erratic and inconsistent like Carter at times. He had a hot start into the season but he cooled off later.
JRich really did not perform any better than Carter when we first traded for him. People were cursing the Charlotte trade and saying that Dudley was the only good thing about that trade and it seemed like few people liked J-Rich until he played great against Portland in the playoffs.
There is a big difference though. JRich clearly was having trouble fitting in right after the trade versus Carter literally being a shell of his former self. I never once looked at JRich and said man...that dude can't move or he is not quick. Carter was just the opposite. Maybe he did have trouble fitting in but clearly he physically is not the same player.
I think the main point here is that the entire league recognized JRich last season and the 1st half of this season as being one of the best SG in the league.
So, in hindsight that changes nothing. The entire league (coaches, players and analysts) were giving him high praise and kudos and it was deserved as well. I don't see how hindsight changes any of that.
