Charles just said the teams that beat the Suns this year better watch out next year because "Hell Boy"(Amare) will be back.

There is no way in hell Mavs beat us with Amare in there... just no way!

Let's just hope Mavs knock out Spurs again next year ;)

I agree as well. First off we sweep the Lakers. Get by the clips in 5. Rest up. Beat the mavs in 5 or 6. Rest up and trash whoever comes out in the east.

Amare better come out and play like the world is going to end and he needs to get it done next year.

Im not too worried about the Mavs next year. They were too old this year, next year theyll be older. I still think theyll be a top 5 team, but certainly not a favorite (even in their own division). This year saw a changing of the guard in the NBA

Nowitzki retires at the end of this season to star in Baywatch-revisited and cover all of Hasselhoffs songs.

You might be right.

Except, that isn't the subject of this thread now, is it?

All the better. Even great teams find it very, very difficult to repeat. If Dallas beats Miami, they won't be as hungry come next year's playoffs.

No you won't. Miami will dominate the series.

You sound a little over-confident considering the team yours will be facing.

With Diaw and LB in the form of the WCFs but playing the Mavs in the first round without Raja's injury, we'd have beaten them in 6. Well, that's just hypothetical. So, let's agree that we overachieved and got invaluable experience for the team for next year.

I agree that this experience, especially LB and Diaw playing so well and Amare not playing at all but burning to help (D'Antoni's quips notwithstanding), has to set us up well for next year and beyond...

Even with Amare back next year, Nash will be a year older.

We really need to find a legit backup to spell Nash if we want to win next year.

Go Suns!

Bell is average at best!! With Amare and Bell maybe, but Bell would not have made much difference!! The Mavs are just better this year and deeper!!

But Nash's game will be easier. Rather than having to create everything himself the offense will start w/ Amare. The pick-n-roll was so devastating in last seasons PO's. Now we'll get a whole season of that.

Are you kidding me? You put Bell in the game and we could have won at least one of games 2 & 3. We were in both of the games WITHOUT Bell. Just look at his production even after he came back. He shouldn't even be playing. Had no jump to his shots and was slowed on defense. We missed those killer 3's.

With Amare AND Bell, you just won't have a chance... Period!

Last year, with only Amare and NO JJ, we took care of you easily in 6. With both Amare & Raja, in 5 at best. And I'm not even counting KT.

Let's just agree that Mavs beat a team that is not even close to 70%.

A healthy Bell can make a difference. You did not watch the Laker and Clipper series. Stop trolling please.

Yes, with the amount of money Cuban spent on the team, the team has to be deeper. But don't forget that Suns is supposed to be a deep team. We are just short-handed with injuries.

wow, you couldn't be more wrong. With a healthy Bell I honestly believe this Phoenix Suns team beats the Mavericks in 6 games. Now even with Bell I don't think this team could beat San Antonio in a seven-game series. Dallas was just a very good match up with the Phoenix Suns. I really couldn't believe how the Phoenix Suns hung with the Mavericks given the Bell injury.

The Mavs are a very young team. I don't know where you're getting that we're an old team from.
Dirk is only 27
Stack will come off the bench, (If we don't trade him for a younger player)
Van Horn will not be resigned. Mavs have already said this.
Darrell Armstrong will probably be promoted to assistant coach do to the fact that he pretty much said so in a recent interview.
Our starting 5 will all be fairly young.

Starting Five as Avery has stated next year will be:
Dirk 27
Howard 26
Diop 24
Terry 28
Harris 23
How can you consider this an old team?

We're going to bring in more bench players, mainly younger one's.
We also have Josh Powell who is great. He's very young and should get a ton of minutes next season. This guy is awesome. He just needs a bit more development, like Howard did when he was a rookie.

Im not a big IF guy, but I do think if Bell was 100%, we probably would have won the series. The guy provided 15 ppg, and was our best perimeter defender. The fact he scored like 2 points combined in the last 2 losses speaks volumes of his importance. Especially considering we were leading both games until the 4th, a quarter in which depth and health take its effects.

Dallas was able to run 9 guys a game.
The Suns had 7.
It's no EXCUSE, but objectively, it is a REASON.
Injuries are a factor every season in EVERY pro sports league - a wild card that can cripple the favorite at just the most inopportune time.

I'm not sure the Mavs are an old team when you look at their main guys.

Josh Howard - 26
Jason Terry - 29
Dirk Nowitzki - 27
Devin Harris - 23
Maruis Daniels - 25
Desagana Diop - 25
Jason Terry - 28

then there's

DJ Mbenga - 25
Josh Powell - 23
Rawle Marshall - not sure but definitely not over 25

so really, there's only 3 main older guys, but far from being close to retirement and they all come off the bench most of the time:

Erick Dampier - 30
Jerry Stackhouse - 31
Adrian Griffin - 31

that leaves only Darrell Armstrong who is mostly a motivational speaker and occasional energy guy for the Mavericks
