Mark Grace said he is in his final few games as a player, thanked everyone, especially his teammates, and was a bit choked up. He also said he thinks it probably isn't the last time he'll be seen in a Diamondback's uniform in some capacity, but that is something he, wife, agent, and the organization will have to discuss.
To me, Grace has been a funny, classy, professional guy who loves the game and played it as well as he could every time. He is a very big part of our wonderful 2001 season. I wasn't thrilled he hung on this season, but there's no point in pillorying an athlete for not being able to let go ahead of the curve. A great many of them push it a bit too long.
