Here's the quote from the Giants' web site . . .

In other roster moves, the Giants released kicker Bill Gramatica, offensive lineman Mike Saffer and defensive lineman Delbert Cowsette. Gramatica’s departure leaves the kicking duties to Todd France, who has never kicked in an NFL regular season game.

He got beat out by a French guy who's never kicked in an NFL regular season game!!

A 4th round pick on a kicker is a waste. Espically one who can't keep it inbounds on the kickoff.

Did we know that at the time? Gramatica was considered to be one of the best K'ers in college (like Martin). There is ample presedence of taking K'ers this high (or higher).......Janokowski, Kaeding, Scobee etc etc.

That he didn't pan out is unfortunate......but at the time it was considered a very good pick.

Again, a 4th round pick on a kicker is a waste. Plenty of servicable kickers on the waiver wire every year.

This will be my last volley with you on this post because you obviously are the type of person who likes to get in the last word without thinking things through.

A K'er can score anywhere between 6 -15 points in any given game......as many if not more than any other player.. He can influence field position and can win games with literally seconds left.

Do you think Al Davis was nuts to draft Janokowski in the first round a year or so ago. The Raiders don't think so.

Enough

I wonder if France is related to that guy that commanded the British Expeditionary Force at the start of World War 1.

Semi-interesting. The Gramatica brothers site used to have all 3 brothers featured, but seemed to have dropped Santiago - now it is the official site of Martin and Bill only.

Santiago was 12-20 for South Florida last year with a long of like 43. Not good Santi.

Have you heard the band Franz Ferdinand? I heard someone call in to the radio station to request them who thought that was the name of the singer.
