Perfect. He gets a decent payday and we still have cap room next season. It seems like the Suns have a consistent plan so far this off-season!

In the unlikely event that the Suns acquire two stars next year, maybe he'd come back again on the cheap.

the way i see it is this. Overpay for one year, when cap space and salaries dont really matter. after this season, we can vet min him for the rest of his career. its a front loaded contract as far as i'm concerned.

I have mixed feelings as well. I love Grant Hill. One of the most class guys in the NBA. I would also want him to be part of the Suns FO someday. However, the other part of me wants to see him get a shot at a ring. I would have really liked him to pursue that. Oh well. I guess if he plays like he did last year, he could still probably go after that and pursue his ring next year.

I would love for him to get a ring too; however, I think Hill understands that the Suns franchise pretty much saved his entire basketball career. The guy has only missed three games his entire tenure with the team, while he played only 47 games from 2000-2003. One thing this team has going for itself is that the medical staff is second to none, and players always seem to make mention of it when they sign. I remember a few years ago Alan Houston was trying to convince the Suns to sign him because he thought the medical staff could resurrect his career by treating his ailments.

Personally, I don't care if he is 39, 29, or 69, if he can still post 15 ppg and be a competent defender, he can stay as long as he wants.

I love watching Hill play and he is a great guy for the youth of our team (what little we have) to learn from and it isnt as though we have some developing wing player who he is going to be blocking from playing time. Its a one year deal... I see absolutely no downside to this.

For me, the downside is simply that he makes us a better team. I like to see my team win so I have mixed feelings. But let's face it, we need to be bad for a few years not just mediocre.

I am glad he didn't sign with the Spurs but wished he would get a ring. But at this point, it's not as easy to decide the team that gives you the best shot at a championship. There's no clear favourite like the Lakers with Shaq and Kobe or the Celtics a few years ago. The Heat would come closest to guarantee a Finals appearance, but Grant would hardly get any playing time.

I simply wish him another year or two of injury-free basketball. Certainly a great move for the Suns although it will lower our chances of a high lottery pick.

If they had shipped off Nash I would prefer for them to bottom out, but as long as Nash is here the team still needs to attempt to be competitive. Besides, even if the Suns suck they would still need luck in order to win the lotto and get the a top 3 pick... and the Suns have never had luck on their side.

Might as well try and win.
