I'm starting to get the feeling that people are already making excuses (weather, Seattle needs the game more, etc.) in the event that we lose to yet another team who actually has a pulse.
I definitely did not post the weather as an excuse, just an update because B-Train was talking about it on his show. In fact, I will go so far as to say it is a good thing for us. If the weather grounds the passing game for both teams, then Russell Wilson can't scramble and pick up big yards.
If you look at the 2 teams rushing this year, the Seahawks average 4.6 yards per carry, while the Cards average 4.5.
However, when you take the QB's (most likely scrambling) out of the mix, the Seahawks drop to an average of 4.3 YPA, while the Cards actually increase to 4.7.
Of course, our play action passing opens up a lot of stuff for our rushing attack, so if the passing game is neutralized by the weather, Seattle will be able to stack the box too.
Bottom line, if both teams are able to key the run because of weather, then I like the Cards' OL better than the SEA OL at getting a push and making things happen.
I doubt that happens because the rain should be light and there shouldn't be too much wind, so the passing game may come down to which receivers can hold onto the ball better. I would generally like the Cards in this category, but Seattle actually leads the League in fewest dropped passes per game. Advantage, Seattle.
So all of this is a very long way of saying, I don't know that the current weather forecast will have much impact on favoring one team over the other, except that Seattle will be more acclimated to it than the Cards.
