I can't think of any other examples of this, so I thought I'd inquire all of you crazy TV watchers: Have you ever seen a great (or even phenomenal) episode of a show that you never cared for before or since? I was never a fan of Millennium. I loved X-Files, but I only had room for one paranoid '90s weirdo show. However, Millennium was also run by X-Files creator Chris Carter and one Sunday night they ran "Jose Chung" night, using the same character (played by Charles Nelson Reilly) to cross over X-Files to Millennium. Both episodes were written by the same writer -- Darin Morgan, who was consulting producer for Fringe in the first season. It was possibly my favorite two hours of television ever.

Was this just a momentary blip?

Hmmm...

The Star Wars episodes of "Robot Chicken" and "Family Guy"? Those are pretty solid.

Hmmm. They were definitely excellent episodes, but I like Family Guy and sometimes like Robot Chicken. Right idea, but I'm not on board with calling those series not-so-good.

Okay, how about the old "Clerks" animated TV show? The finale, which never aired, was the zaniest, funniest, most ironic episode ever. It had Judge Reinhold playing an actual judge (before Arrested Development did the same gag) and George Lucas defending his Star Wars choices on the stand.

Oh, I got it: The first episode of "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" was incredible. The rest of the series, not so much, but I watched every episode based on the momentum of that first one.

The finale of "V" (the recent incarnation, not the awesome 80's version) was killer too.
