That is a great read, really elaborates that game plans and schemes are designed to fit personnel. It will be interesting to see if we start adding more plays that fit Grice's strengths over the next few weeks since Ellington is now on IR.

Can't wait for tonight's game - a great challenge for our running game.

Excellent article. I never realized that Kerwynn Williams had nice receiving skills like Grice and Ellington. In some ways they are similar running backs.

Thanks K-9. That was an excellent and informative read. I now understand what you have been saying about Cooper's game against the Chiefs. He was instrumental on at least three plays of needing to be bailed out by others in order to keep the QB upright. On one of those occasions, no help was available and the QB suffered a severe hit. I still believe that Cooper will be just fine, and another game or two might just settle him into where he needs to be. The game speed is very different than practice speed is.

I am very impressed with the author's insight, especially into the techniques involved for playing running back at this level. He has made very clear distinctions of the differences between backs such as Ellington and Williams, versus types like Grice and Taylor. He is also an excellent author, being able to not just see those differences, but to communicate them to the lay man. Nice find K-9.

I totally agree with him regarding college programs that get hot in recruiting positions. You tend to see that if you look closely. Alabama is there with RBs right now. LSU with DBs though they might have tailed off. North Carolina with defensive linemen. Iowa and Wisconsin go through OL spurts. Some guys just know what to look for at certain positions.

Dunno about Iowa and OL. Reily Reiff is not great, and Bryan Bulaga is terrible. Marshall Yanda turned out to be pretty good, but he came out in 2007.

But on the whole I think I agree with you.

My point with Iowa was more high level draft prospects rather than churning out over successful pro players.

Kind of like Alabama defensive backs. Not all of them have had great NFL careers, but it seems like they churn out a couple most every year that are drafted relatively high.
