A coworker and I were talking about this at lunch . . . guys who's name you hear in the NFL draft and thing, "Wow, there's a name straight from central casting." Somebody who in the movies would be a stud . . . a la Jimmy Chitwood, Rick Vaughn, Johnny Utah , Shane Falco, etc.

I can't remember all of the names we threw out there but there were a ton. Anybody got any more?

You'll also see a couple of emerging patterns: (1) "Old School" (Turk McBride, Josh Swogger, Smokey Hampton, Korey Hall, Tre Battle), (2) "Multi-Cultural (Usama Young, Tavo Tupola, Obie Oliuigbo and (3) "Fast Names" (Syndric Steptoe, Ramonce Taylor. Missing from this year's crop are the usual group of "Bubbas", "A.J's" and "Jim Bob's."

I've been doing this for nearly 20 years, because I always felt there was a poetry in these names that added glamor and romance to listening to or watching the game.

Heres one- DT Bonnie Sloan was drafted by the Cardinals in 75. What milestone did me do for the NFL and for Handicaped persons? You have to be tough to be named Bonnie for a guy.

There was also a Steve Stonebreaker who played 5 0r 6 years in the NFL during the 60`s for the Saints,Vikings (i think) and Colts.Not for sure about all the teams.The 60`s are kind of hazy.
