Great news, Shawn Green could accept trade to the Yankees if offered

DOWN THE LINE
Green could be right for Yanks

The checklist of major corner outfielders the Yankees have been linked to in the trade market are Bobby Abreu, Carlos Lee and Alfonso Soriano. But do not discount Arizona's Shawn Green. The Yanks have inquired about the right fielder and a person close to the situation said to play for a contender, Green might chuck his West Coast preference and waive his no-trade clause. The D'backs want to bring up touted prospect Carlos Quentin to replace Green, so they are in a dealing mood.

I like Green and I guess this means they won't be trying to win the NL West this year, but it gives us more money to work with in the offseason and it would also be great to watch Quentin. If Green starts with the Yankees it would also help my fantasy team. :)

I would accept about anything for Green.

Our chances of winning this season are slim. If we make a run, great, if not it's great too.

Green causes a logjam in the OF again next year. If we could move him we can have our OF be Quentin, Byrnes and Young next season. It'll give us more production than this season's OF and is much younger.

I don't think it matters, the Yanks and the DBacks don't match up well as trade partners considering the DBacks prospect needs (starting pitching that is close to the bigs). Another team would have to be involved.

Exactly, the only SP the Yankee's have is Phillip Hughes and the Yankees won't give him up for Green, other than that the Yankees have nothing we would want.

I wouldn't care if they got anything in return for Green. Just allowing Quentin to come up and get his salary off the books would be a great deal

True, but I'd expect Byrnes to target a Edgar Gonzalez type marginal prospect in return for Green hoping to try and catch lightning in a bottle for the rotation next year which as of now looks horrific.

The only shot the DBacks have to hit a home run this deadline is if they trade Julio. A lot of contenders have bullpen issues right now and the DBacks desperately need help in the starting rotation. The question is - Do you trade trade Jorge Julio at the deadline if the team is slightly under .500?

I was willing to root for Green, but during his first season here, he refused to pick up a plastic bag that the winds had blown an entire 5 inches from his cleats...The game had to wait for the ball boy to sprint 40 yards and pick up the bag, and then sprint 40 more yards back to his post...Green is a selfish punck, and if we can get rid of him for a great 4 year old tee ball player then it'd be worth it.

Green out of AZ is all I care about. Even if the Yankees had a couple more pitching prospects, I don't think Green has enough value to get one. He bats for avg (but thats about it), has absolutely no power numbers, he plays a very lazy RF, and shall we even bring up his attitude? If he indeed goes to NYY, he won't last 2 seconds under that microscope. He thought LA was bad.....

Exactly. Where do I sign?

I'd take a couple prospects with ANY sort of potential. If they don't work out, oh well, CQ is playing every day in RF.

Man, if we could get Quentin, Drew and Jackson all in the regular lineup THIS YEAR I'd call the season a success.

How long is Julio under contract?
