That one was a little before my time. The greatest for me, personally, was ASU 19 Nebraska 0. I know it doesn't rank with great games, but as an ASU fan, it was a great game. Recently, that USC vs ND game where Leinart scored a TD was a good one.
Sorry to mention that one, I think you are a ND fan, aren't you, Skkorp?

I'll second that. But for me not "one of" just simply "most exciting".

I didn't expect anything like that either. I thought the Sooners would roll.

I'll third that. It was one of the best football games I've ever seen, college or not. I'm not a fan of either team, but I have a high def-digital copy that I'll hold on to for some time.

2006 Rose Bowl - USC vs Texas. It had everything you'd want in a Nat'l Championship Game. 2 undefeated teams, superstar players (Bush, Leinart, White, Young), 1 vs 2, back and forth game, and a last 4 minute come from behind victory. And of course one of the greatest performances by a single player in college football history.

Of course just my opinion, had USC won, not sure I'd feel the same.

The final four of this year's NCAA Lacrosse tournament between Syracuse/Virginia and Duke/Hopkins were some of the most exciting games I have ever seen.

That was a great game. Also, the Notre Dame-USC game that ended with the famous Reggie Bush pushing Leinart into the endzone play was a tremendous game.

1974 USC vs Notre Dame. One of the greatest college players (Anthony Davis) who just couldn't make the jump. Funny. He didn't win the Heisman because of another great player who had little success in the NFL, Archie Griffin.

I agree. As a Hopkins alum, it's too bad we couldn't beat the Orangemen and continue the fairy tale, but who'd a thunk we'd come this far, given the bumpy road during the regular season.

To turn this into a Cardinal post, both this year and last year - when Hopkins lost to Albany (who?) University early in the season - and still came back to win the national championship, it goes to show you how much impact hard work and good coaching can have toward turning around a season.

Sorry, for the sheer impact of the game, the incredible collection of talent and the impact on the huge and similar SEC final game of the following week, with the eventual winners windind up facing each other in a bowl game, nothing any of you mentioned comes close.

Thanks to BIM for finding the game's tale below. Please read it. I've seen every game you guys cited and they were all thrilling.

The only game cited in the college spread that I didn't see was jonh h's Notre Dame-Army game of 1945 or 1946.

Read this please. I was not a fan of any of the teams, being a Notre Domer.
